Hey hey boys and girls. As some of you know, Dirty Leaf Cigars recently came into new ownership and we've been working long and hard to get things going and build the company into what it can and should be. We spent more or less an entire month and thousands of dollars sending unfilled orders to past customers, making sure everything was made right. It's important to us that everyone knows things are different and the company runs as it should, without issue. We've kept the things that work, and changed the things that didn't, plain and simple. And we are improving and getting in incredible new products everyday.

The Cigar Geeks community is amazing and important to us which is why we waited to post here, to be sure things were situated first.

So we hope you guys will give us the opportunity to show you the new Dirty Leaf. We think you'll be pleased.

Use coupon code: cigargeeks for 20% off orders of $50 or more. Offer ends Sunday.

And remember, Dirty Leaf ALWAYS offers free U.S. shipping, the lowest international rates around, and a price match guarantee.

I've let y'all know multiple times about stuff I still have on order, going on a year now, and I'm still getting strung along! This place is a joke, and I wouldn't order a flipping thing from them until they get everything sorted out with the people they are screwing around still! And they still have plenty of orders unfilled. Their website and deals look good, but not if you never get what you order!

Sounds like they are trying to make things right. We all have amends to make, lets see em take care of E, and if that takes place, I'd give em another shot. The discount code sure would be nice a few weeks from now, so that we see the actions of their words first, before putting our trust in a posted apology.

Our only possessions are our actions...

My order was placed on December 15th of 2014, and I'm still waiting on a 3 pack presentation box of Reconquistas and a 4oz black ice pie style humidifier. Less that $60 worth of crap, it's all principle now!

I agree, let's see them take care of Emerson first. I was thinking of our new Scottish geek and at least a shipment was sent albeit to somewhere 300 miles away from him, so it does seem like they're making an effort.

I've got email after email of "it hasn't come in" or "it came in last Mondaybut we must have missed you in the shipping, we'll get it right out to you", and "it should be out in the next few days". Those were in July, August, September, etc. Still nada!

Hi Emerson. Like we said, unfortunately the 3 packs of the Reconquista are still unavailable. I do however have 3 packs of the Divinia which is similar. Or full boxes of the Reconquista just came back in stock with our distributor if you simply like 3 of them loose from a larger box. They are still packaged in the individual coffin boxes, just no outer box. We can do either one of those for you.

We have been doing our best, and doing it as quickly as we can. Like I said, they was quite a large number of unfilled orders that have taken quite some time to try and fill. Especially with many being placed so long ago that many items are currently out of stock. I promise you we will not stop until everyone has received everything they ordered under the previous ownership. This is of the utmost importance to us. We walked into quite a mess in many respects (literally and figuratively) and its simply taken some time to sort out. We appreciate those of you that have stuck with us and shown incredible patience as well as the amazing response from new customers. We'll get there guys, no doubt about it.

Pete,

I'd be interested in getting 3 of the Reconquistas loose from a box. That would be fine with me as well, no outer box is no big deal. I'd still like to get the Black Ice Pie humidifier as well if those are in stock. I'll shoot you a PM with my address, and keep these guys informed on it's status.

If it was me, I would make sure to do everything i could to get Emerson's order fulfilled ASAP, even if that meant buying them at retail and taking a loss. It sounds like several geeks are just waiting for his order to be fulfilled before they place an order. I losing money one one deal means making money on several others, it seems like a no brainer...

I am with Bruce, take care of Emerson, and it sounds like you are heading in the right direction.  He is being perhaps more forgiving than I would be.  But then also if I was the new owner I would be doing more.  I know these are inherited problems, but what would win me over is going the extra mile

I consider myself lucky as I had a few flawless transactions with DLC in the past but stopped ordering from them when a few Geeks started posting about issues.

I wish I could do business with them again as they are one of the few that will ship the the GWN but as it stands now, I'm still nervous spending my hard earned (Canadian) dollars not knowing for sure I'll get what I paid for in a timely fashion.

But I'm all for making amends and I'll jump back on that train when all here have been fully satisfied on past unfilled orders and that the new ownership has proved serious in their desire to regain our community's trust.

I placed an order on Saturday and it's still awaiting shipment. I will give this to the end of the week before I pull the order. Not for nothing but most online retailers provide you with a tracking number same day albeit maybe it's not boxed or in the mail but it will be the next day. I hope you guys get your act together as I went against my better judgement.

I'm curious if Emerson received his order yet. It was on the 23rd, admittedly late, that he accepted different product. That should have shipped out on Saturday considering the delays to date, and I would think the order should have either arrived, or be awfully close per the tracking number that he must have by now. Right?

I'm curious if Emerson received his order yet. It was on the 23rd, admittedly late, that he accepted different product. That should have shipped out on Saturday considering the delays to date, and I would think the order should have either arrived, or be awfully close per the tracking number that he must have by now. Right?

Emerson

And I think that says it all. As of last week this could have been nearly wrapped up with a shipping confirmation, but here we are nearly a week later, and nothing. Not to mention that all of this started nearly a year ago.

Reminds me of a saying: Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me. (Of course, with no negative connotations to my brothers and sisters on here who have tried to give the benefit of the doubt. We are forgiving bunch, but only so many times.)

Vroomp - 10/28/2015 1:03 PM I say Kudos to Mark for attempting to make all previous orders right and reaching out to us to let us know he is trying to fulfill all previous orders properly. I know Alan left the whole enterprise in a shambles and Mark is doing a great job trying to recover~!

i don't know the situation over there but almost 20 years ago i got into business with a partner, (i was warned not to by my father in-law when he found out) and it ended badly. i wound up paying for everything even though my partner had been getting half the profits for a good bit. lesson learned.

I wouldn't drop a single red penny with you now or in the future. One of the first rules in online retailing is gaining customer's trust - your company's name is synonymous with just the opposite. Might consider changing it to Shady Leaf Cigars.

It's been over a year when your company started showing signs of "problems" with "previous ownership" and you show up here telling of how hard you've worked to get things fixed.

When you bought this business did you think through how you were going to handle customers like Emerson?

And you decided to launch this right before the holidays with no proven track record of having taken care of past problems?

Good luck with that hot mess. Now, get off my f'n lawn!

Agreed, that certainly seems to be the case.
Perhaps DLC should toss up a post to let us know how things are going

In all fairness, Reinado was even slower from order to ship with the CG cigars, I think I waited about 3-4 weeks to receive them, and a lot of people were waiting even longer if I remember right. They never gave me a tracking number either.

I'm interested to see how DLC sweetened the deal to try and make amends for Emerson, sounded like they were throwing some extras in the order.

The delays in the previous orders were truly out of my control and apologize for them. Some issues are not always calculated and we make every attempt to ensure timely shipments. Going forward I will have a quicker turnaround for you guys if given the opportunity. Hope that this company does get you the order soon. I know it is frustrating.

Best Regards,
Antonio

No worries Antonio, not trying to badmouth Reinado, your cigars are worth the wait, just wanted to point out that something like 6 days is not necessarily unique to DLC.

Um, sorry - that's not my experience with reputable, customer centric retailers who have the inventory they're selling.

I agree with Longhorn on this one for sure. Reinado is a different deal, this retailer, since the changeover, said he had singles in stock, just not the boxes. Emerson accepted, so ANY retailer that actually cared to make things right would have been first in line at the PO if that is what it took the next day to impress.

I spend a lot of my hard earned cash on cigars as do many of us. I assure you my dollars go to folks that make me feel important and valuable, not just another F'up that thry have to fix. Sad, gonna miss out on a lot of profit from some folks that spend a lot when treated right.

I've never had to wait 6 days for shipping after ordering. There are plenty of reliable online retailers that I have used to ever consider ordering from DLC.

Just saying that was my first and only experience with Reinado to date. Maybe that was the exception because it was a very limited edition cigar. If they didn't have the cigars in stock yet and that was actually a pre-order I was not aware of it, and there wasn't much communication from them to make that clear as far as I remember.

I agree that most places do a much better job of communicating and being expedient. Not saying I'm about to order from DLC, but who knows how deep this new owner is in the mess left by the predecessor, we know he's dealing with it on a global scale. Hopefully he'll sweeten the deal for Emerson to try and make up for it.

I'm not on your lawn so don't say it!

I imagine the cigar biz has to be pretty lucrative. I know sales tax cab suck but the competition for large scale retailers doesn't seem bad. And I imagine the margins are pretty reasonable for what would be classified by most as a luxury item.

How difficult is it to respond to an email, phone call, PM and provide a tracking number?

Couldn't agree more. They say they are making things right but so far we aren't seeing or hearing about or from anyone that has been taken care of. If anything it seems to me as if business is running as it always has been (bad customer service). It really is too bad.

It's not like there are no other cigar vendors around. Forget Dirty Leaf and move on. I wasn't seeing dynamite deals there anyway. Plenty of other places to purchase cigars.

I feel for you if they still owe you money or product.

Ok all I can say is the guys on the site are ticked so why don't you as much as possible correct the issues. Very simple maybe but if I paid and you took the payment than deliver that is all the geeks are asking. Make it your mandate make it right that is all anyone is asking.

I had sent emails to y'all telling you that after 6 months or so, I had moved. See my profile on here for my updated address that I had sent y'all in later emails, and the address on the new profile on YOUR website that I had to make for someone there so they could send me my order.

Just another reason that waiting a year to send a package sucks!

I've got a call in to my ex neighbor to see if he might be able to round up the package from the new owners at the house. I'll be within about 30 minutes of there Monday, so i may have to drive there to get it if he can find it.

^^^^ This is completely unacceptable. Especially if DLC is truly trying to "win back" customers here on CG.

What is happening here with DLC definitely seems as though they are attempting to sell from and inventory they do not have and are trusting they can get the product for resale after orders are placed, not working so well. A quick google earth search of the DLC address shows a home in a residential area with what certainly seems not large enough to house the inventory the website tries to emulate.

"Why is Dirty Leaf Cigars different from those other cigar sites? Well, we'll tell you why. Dirty Leaf will quickly become the first and last name for all your smokey needs." I believe they are quickly becoming the last IMHO

I recently placed and order with P&C late Thursday afternoon and Friday morning as soon as I checked my emails there was confirmation and tracking. THAT is how a good online retailer does business.

Your actions don't support your claims that things are fixed at your company.

Even if cigars do eventually get delivered and bonus sticks are tossed in to make amends, it sure seems you've showed up here only to prey upon the potential market of our community.

From what I can tell and the experience outlined by two Geeks above, you suck at retailing.

How about getting off our F*&#ING LAWN?!?!?!

At this point you ought to cancel the charge through your credit card company or PayPal. They haven't even responded to your non-delivery issue here in the forum even though they have posted recently. Sorry, but this one smells really bad . . .

The Mail Order Rule within the FTC allows a customer to cancel their order anytime up until it ships... if a retailer subsequently ships product to the customer, the customer is not obligated to pay for the goods and said company is responsible for arranging pick up.

Any charge on your credit card after a cancellation has been initiated can be disputed, with high rates of success, with your CC company. Furthermore, your State's Attorney General's office should also be notified.

Finally, any mail order that is not shipped within the time frame acknowledged on a) the company's web site or b) the company's order confirmation subjects the company to obtaining permission to extend the time to ship.

At this point, it would appear DLC has violated this rule on ThinBlueLine's order and most certainly on McBryde's order last year.

DLC's shipping information on their web site: "Orders ship within 1-3 days from receipt. Orders within the US normally arrive in 5 to 7 days and international orders normally arrive in 10-14 days. Unlike our competitors, we process orders EVERY SINGLE DAY and ship them 6 days a week."

FTC Rule: "If, after taking the customer’s order, you learn that you cannot ship within the time you stated or within 30 days, you must seek the customer’s consent to the delayed shipment. If you cannot obtain the customer’s consent to the delay -- either because it is not a situation in which you are permitted to treat the customer’s silence as consent and the customer has not expressly consented to the delay, or because the customer has expressly refused to consent -- you must, without being asked, promptly refund all the money the customer paid you for the unshipped merchandise."

Today I was able to run down my package from DLC. Along with the 3 Reconquistas and the 4 oz. Black Ice I ordered, they also threw in a DLC bottle opener, a Oneworld, Model CF01/A4807, Lighter. They also threw in another 7 sticks to go with the order.

They all came in packed well.

Thanks for the extras DLC!

Write to them about their mistake, and tell them to send you the correct box along with a postage paid label so you can ship the wrong ones back. If they give you a problem, then you can contact your credit card company about the matter.

I think I understand how you feel about this Brad and, from your businessman stand point, it makes complete sense not to agree with what seems like too prompt and harsh a reaction and judgement of a guy trying to do good.

From where I stand, and I can only contribute how the whole thing makes me feel, it seems communication is not at it's best between the vendor and it's clients. Maybe I sound a little like a princess somehow whining about a little bad customer experience but, I spend hard earned money (too much of it) buying the luxury of cigars and it is just that, a luxury. So I admit I want to be treated like a King when buying like one and I did not see the red carpet I was expecting here.

But again, I'm just looking at it from afar with just a small part of the picture and I know I don't see the whole thing. But one thing is for sure, good communication and transparency are free and if I don't feel I'm getting them, I'm usually out the door, even if it's a misguided feeling.

x2. He might have finally made McBryde's order correct after a year, but the new order from ThinBlueLine was f*cked up. Let's see that one corrected before we talk about "making good on orders".

Hey Pete, in case you missed this thread here is one you may want to check out.

http://www.cigargeeks.com/community/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=2957...

Also really hoping the name is for real and not a Mad Men reference

Also curious why Alan would toss over his CG acct to the "new owner" also.
Just another observation made by another geek.

As mentioned on the SOA Black Crown thread, I received my DLC order yesterday & whilst there was issues around the original shipping, it was great to finally receive my order & close this one off.

It look's like my order was placed a couple of weeks before this thread was created so maybe explains why there were the issues with my original order as DLC were clearly dealing with a backlog.

Granted I do feel there is a whole 'Keeping the customer in the loop' piece which is currently missing but Kudos on the honouring of previous failed orders & once that is all sorted I would like to think there that will make it easier to be more customer centric.

Again, as I mentioned on the other thread, I would have no issue ordering from DLC again - but I haven't been burned as badly as some (Emerson) have been & can understand why some people would be cautious about doing so.

Now... for my first Curmudgeonly outburst... Pete - what happened to my added extras man?!? It was mentioned in my messages there would be some added extras & all I got was a discount code

(the last part is in jest btw... kinda )

Emerson, Glad you received your order brother. Hope the cigars (and extra's) take the edge of the wait you had!

I wouldn't really buy from em ever, but a free box of MF LB 1922 would have been sweet!! And I would be totally honest and upfront about it all!

Don't hold your breath, they wont even send you a note saying they are out of stock!
Maybe it is just me but I just can't believe this is how they want to be represented. They have potentially lost more business thru none action than they will ever get back from this community

I placed an order with Dirty Leaf on Oct 31 to take advantage of the $20 off deal that they were offering. About a week and a half later I emailed them asking about the projected shipping date. They indicated one of the brands that I ordered did not come in from their distributor on time and that they would ship asap. The order finally shipped on Nov 8 and it arrived today (Nov 13). I found the people at Dirty Leaf to be very pleasant and forthright. They have given me a $10 credit toward my next purchase. I think these guys are really trying to get this business back on its feet. I'm sure they are dealing with a mess someone else made. I believe this will be a good company if they can get over the hump. I'm choosing to give them the leeway and not to be upset because it took a little extra time to fill my order. I hope they can make their company a good one.

I am in communication with them. If all goes well I should have my package by the beginning of next year as that's when they'll be back in stock per Tatuaje. I've had no issue dealing with them as of yet and they insisted I keep the wrong box at no charge. We shall see if original order gets fulfilled, if not I am going to be livid.

I am not sure of this "under new management" statement. According the Florida Dpt of State, Division of Corporations the listed authorized person is the same name as the 2014 & 2013 licenses. I don't know, maybe there is a lag in posting up to date information. If their service is getting better I guess it may not matter.
Or maybe new management is not the same as new ownership

Seems like they were back up just long enough to settle old accounts and make new screw ups to fund the old ones.

I hope you're leaving feedback in the retailer's section Scott. I'll never touch these guys after seeing all these disasters.
