I see some of you have your online humidors listed as private.

I have seen a couple of links in the signature sections to online humi's and they're private.

Does this mean no one can view the humidor or just by invitation only?

No one can view it until the user makes it public using the proper option in the my account page.

What is that proper option? I can't find it on my account page.

Same here. I've sold, traded, smoked, or given away so many that I wouldn't be surprised if I had half of what's listed in there. I really need to update it.

1029henry

That's why I don't have an online humidor. I'd have to quit my job and spend all my time updating it.

Surprisingly mine is fairly accurate, but it needs some updating. I usually have mine listed as public, because I don't care what people know I have. I don't have anything exciting so I'm not worried about being bugged for trades.

Mine is up to date as I am beyond OCD...I am not sure why I keep it private though. Maybe I will open it up for members only. If I do, my only concern which might sound selfish is the pm flow of trades etc...which again selfishly I am not too fond of at the moment. Definitely a grinch at this point maybe I will lighten up someday.
I enjoy romantic walks to my humidors...

I keep mine public. But I rarely get any PM for trades.  A few folks I trade and such often with, but I can't remember any random requests.  Of course sorting through mine can be a task all in its own.

I don't use the VH function. I'm too deep to even try and add cigars.

Interesting... people actually peruse a V.H. and then pander for trades?

So you're not open to a trade offer? I'll PM you a list of 5 if you are.

This happened enough times to make me close up mine.  There's not anything wrong with that so long as folks can take a friendly "no thanks" as an answer, but one guy got mad that I wouldn't trade. This site isn't "American Pickers." I come here for relaxation, not more stress.

I do keep the Wishlist Humidor open to the public, as I think everybody should.  If somebody is going to bomb you, its even better if they have an idea of what you want or like.    ;-)

Good point. Seems there's always a spoiler. I will take the recommendation for a wishlist.

Shyte, mine is public and way out of date. Maybe I have a chore for this weekend!

I keep it private so that no one knows what they are gonna get when I do a blind trade. Love me some blind trading!    :bigthumbs:

Mine is public but I do have cigars I keep private. The public part is pretty much up to date.

I don't mind the occasional PM for a trade and would not hesitate to ask a fellow geek if he (or she) is interested in one if I happened to see stuff that I would kill to try. But then I do not feel it is automatic, a Geek must retain the right to say no to any kind of request.

The wish list is another story as I feel it's a very useful tool when you want to surprise someone with a bomb, fill your part of a trade or whatever reason one would have to know other geeks liking and tastes in cigars.

I keep mine private, but will provide an inventory that I download into Excel and filter when I'm engaged in a trade.

Same here.  My wishlist stays public, and as a couple of people noted above, it is one thing I think everyone should update and keep open.  It is very useful in trades and bombs.

At one point, I had my normal humidor open to members, and I only got the occasional trade request, so I don't think many people just go into your humidor randomly to find cigars to trade.

Mine is public and up to date for the most part. I need to revisit my wishlist humidor though, I've haven't had any geeks PM me for trades but I did PM a couple of guys that were up for trades. Everyone was cool & easy to work with. Either said no thanks...or most of the time they were more then happy to trade. You can also post what you are looking for in a trade and I've done that and had success as well. Cool to be a geek
