Just picked this little tidbit from a thread over at the CBID forums.  Supposedly, CBID will be revamping their site and should be complete this summer or fall.

Quote from SteveR@Cigarbid:
"The site has been long overdue for an overhaul. Problem is, the site is so basic, folks love it. It does exactly what it needs to do. However, we have been working on a variety of items which will be rolling out very soon, including a new site, new bidding styles, new ways to save, a new forum, and - as always - lots of new products. "

I wonder if this has to do with CigarAuctioneer updating their site.... :?:

Definitely could be. CBid, although simple, is very quick and easy to use. That being said, a face lift wouldn't hurt.

No doubt it had some weight -- CigarAuctioneer is much more user friendly.

Don't know for sure.  I'm sure they will update the graphics to look more "modern".  I also see them adding dutch and yankee auctions.

if these changes are expensive, hope they don't pass on the cost to us!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surprisingly I'm with Cordell.

It works well, its easy to navigate, why mess with it?

I'll tell you why they'll change it.  To make it more difficult to get good deals.  It'll all be designed to make them more money.

I just hope they add the feature that Famous has whereby you can list the cigars you are watching, and they come up everytime they offer it in the future.  Its a pain in the ass to have to log on and search for my favorites each time.

I always worry when companies say they are revamping their site. Cbid is simple, easy to use and doesn't f-up. If they're sticking a bunch of flash and heavy-weight components, it could become a Real Bad Thing.  I hope they know what they're doing.

We'll just wait and see. The site is a little basic and could use a couple of tweaks. I think it'll be good.

They should overhaul their customer service and leave their site alone.
I'm right 98% of the time.  Who cares about the other 3%?

I started with Famous and have stuck with them so far.  I like the yankee auctions on Cigar Auctioneer, as it allows for a chance at lower prices as more than 1 lot available.  So essentially the top 3 or so bidders get what they want.
Also, as a newb the one month history of final strike price helps you know how much to expect to pay.  The only draw back on this is that cigarauctioneer only keeps the last month of data.  3 or 6 months would be better.

If CBid adds these features, the draw of the devil site will be irresistible.

Really?  Maybe you've had a bad experience, but 99% of everyone I've ever talked to says they have the best customer service out there.

I like features of both sites.  CA looks a little nicer after they did their overhaul a while back. CBID is really simple to use.  Hopefully they don't make it too complex.  That will probably turn some people off to the site.

Hearing complaints about an experience at this place or that happens occasionally and is just a fact of doing business.

However, in my many years of cigar smoking, very few vendors have earned Cigar International's stellar reputation with it's customers.  I am convinced that, no matter what, CI will not be satisfied until you are.

I've never bought from CBID nor do I plan to any time soon. I don't have the money to get addicted to that site.

I buy a lot of cigars off CBID, I have a couple of minor complaints...... but I love the site, it's simple, and easy to navigate, yeah it's a little "dated" looking, but honestly ? that made me feel like there were bargains to be found.

Yeah, newer, flashier, websites are cool...... and attract more people...... more people means more bidding...... more bidding means, yup higher final closing bid prices. Hmm I'm not liking these changes so much. Hope I'm wrong.

Anything that saves me money or makes it easier for them to get it..lol.   I'd like to see more variety as it's the same thing week in and week out.
