It's 10pm and Cigar BID just went down after acting goofy for the last half hour. I had put a few bids in, and was checking them.... now the site says it's down for unexpected reasons. AAARRRGGG !!!

the webpage displays the following message :
CigarBid.com is currently unavailable to perform some necessary system maintenance.
We expect bidding to resume shortly.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

Is there another site for online bidding on cigars that people like ? I'm thinking of looking for a more dependable site.

CigarAuctioneer.com (Famous) is rock-solid, but as usual, know your prices.

JR also has an auction site, but I can't use it due to Lew's paranoia (my State is excluded).

I echo CigarAuctioneer - you can pick up some great deals.

Look at it this way - if you have bids ending when CBID is down, then no one can snipe your auction.

I have been eyeballing CigarAuctioneer for a few days. Some lucky guy got a box of PDR Sun Grown for $59 today. But there are a lot of out of control bidders there too. I think all you can do any more is set your limits and hope the loons aren't watching it.

I use cigarauctioneer.
But the last month or so has seen "the big spenders" come out.  Saw a box of cigars go for more than the online Famous price and waaay more than the history shows for that item.

There was a new thread the other day from www.cigarsatyourprice.com

Some of the guys were checking it out.  It's in this Forum under new way to buy cigars...

Worth checking the guys results to see if it is a good site for you.  Good luck

Looks like the site is back up and running.  Did you score any great deals?

That's pretty common across all the auction sites I visit regularly.  Until the past couple of months the JR Daily Auction was a pretty good place to save a few dollars off JR's regular price.  However, with all the yahoos overbidding and JR's increase in shipping prices the fun has sure worn off.  Plus they haven't listed any HdM Dark Sumatra Espressos for the longest time.  I used to get a couple of boxes every time they hit the screen (10 per box).

The frustrating part is you cannot count on or determine what are the glitches, or know if it's a glitch, or the fact that you have had your first scotch on ice. The old CBID was bare bones, and it worked.

I don't know if the code is fragile for the new site, or servers are having trouble handling transfers, or the raid mirroring is setup to "safest configuration" for the retailer.... but it's driving bidders away for sure.

Luckily my humidors are stocked for the "winter" already  ;-)

CI has been the same for the past three days. Coincidentally they've also had a Jam going for the same length of time.

Could any or all of those things. But my bets are on bad code written by our friends across the Atlantic. Seen it all before, up close and personal.

So, at some point, CBid was down and you thought it might have been caused by your first glass of scotch... ?

I want to try that scotch. So good it interrupts the Internet.   :lmao:
