What is the opinion of the group as to how many cigars you should start a pass with?

My preference is for around 10-12 to keep shipping costs for everyone down, but I see a lot of people going for around 20 to give people variety.

What are you thoughts?

I'll do what I will and I'll drink what I please
I'll smoke what I like 'till I cough and I wheeze
I'll drink and I'll whore and every pleasure realize
For this time tomorrow I may die

I'm in the 10-12 camp.  That should be enough variety to start and generally it just gets bigger.

I agree with no more than 12. In the pass I started with 20 I ended up with several of my original sticks... and they were all in bad shape.

The shipping thing is also a big concern. Stay away from heavy containers, or the cost gets up around $15 real quick.

I started mine out with a bunch for the sake of variety.  I think the "rules" of each pass might have something to do with it.  Mine basically regarded only the size of the sticks.  When you get into some of the "more specific" passes, I could see the initail number being less.

I think 10 to 12 is about right.

Twenty years ago we had Steve Jobs, Johnny Cash and Bob Hope.  Now we have no jobs, no cash and no hope. Please don't let Kevin Bacon die!

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed - Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, 'It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver.'" -Jack Handy

Hey! How come Habana is written on here with a Sharpie ?!?

A day without whiskey is like . . . just kidding, I have no idea!

Enormous passes are kind of nice for the variety, but they are indeed expensive to ship. I'll vote with the rest of you on 10-12.

Well After a PM from another Geek, I took off a nice amount of cigars.

A wise geek once told me that moving up from a daily smoke to a weekly or even bi-monthly smoke would be worth it, if I could learn how to appreciate a really really good cigar. -southernrun

I started both of my passes with 14.

If you put in more than 15, the system should require you to take a beating...

the more the merrier... i think the variety of options is a large part of what makes a pass fun. and in the end i think that is what a pass should be all about.
Any cigars portrayed in this post that appear to be Cuban in origin are completely fictional in nature. Any resemblance between these cigars and actual Cuban cigars is unintended and purely coincidental.
