Welcome Chris.  As other have stated, there is usually no problem storing sticks together.

The only exception that I would make is if you are looking at long term storage between very dark colored sticks (maduros and oscuros) and very light colored ones (claros and double claros) without cello.  I could see the potential for some discoloration of the light wrappers from the dark oils.

The other exception is if you smoke cheap maduros that have been artificially colored (the kinds where your fingers turn black after smoking them).  That artificial color could transfer to a good stick.

I'll smoke what I like 'till I cough and I wheeze
I'll drink and I'll whore and every pleasure realize

Hello all.  My name is Chris and I'm new to this site and these forums.  I'm a 22 year old college student and I live in Denton, Texas.  Anyway, I hope it's okay that I just jump in with a question, because I've got one.

Are there any rules about storing premium cigars and budget cigars in the same humidor as long as the cigars are in their cello tubes?  When I say budget cigars I mean sticks like Travis Club Senators.  They're 100% tobacco and they're wrapped in plastic so I can't really envision any issues, but I just wanted to know if you folks had any thoughts on this matter.

If it matters, I keep all of my cigars in a single desktop humidor that has a capacity of 40-50, depending on the size of the cigars.  All of them are in their cellos except for six Rocky Patel Edge Sumatras that I'm stashing away.

And in case you're wondering, I keep Travis Clubs around primarily to give to my buddies when we go fishing.  They like the T.C.s because they're simple, and I like them because they keep my friends from bumming my (slightly) more expensive sticks. :-)

Thanks!

Welcome, Chris, from another Texan down here in San Antonio, home of Finck's, the maker of your Travis Clubs.

Enjoy the site!

Welcome, Chris!

Cello or no cello is a long standing argument but most agree keeping them in the cello is best to protect the cigars.  For those in the cello crowd, some "clip" the cello for storage, some don't.

As for mixing cigars, I don't think it's an issue, except for these two caveats:

Some cigars store best at differing relative humidity -- low 60% RH others up to 70% RH -- personal preference also weighs in as well.

I'd keep infused/flavored cigars (if you enjoy those) stored separately from your "regular" smokes.

Wow, thanks for all the answers!  I really appreciate it!

And I was being honest when I said the Travis Clubs are mostly around for my friends.  I don't mind the T.C.s at all, but there are other budget cigars that I like more, also from Finck.  The T.C.s are just a little too mild for me most of the time.  Instead, I prefer Finck's unbanded Cheroots, which are more in the mild-medium territory.  They're $9.75 for a 5 pack and they come in both a natural wrapper and a maduro, both of which are pretty good.

I have no problem confessing that I sometimes like cheap cigars, and will happily join my friends in smoking them.  Just thought I'd clarify which ones I liked most.   :-)

From now on I shall store my unflavored budget sticks next to my premiums with no fear.  Thanks again everyone!

Welcome Chris.

No shame in finding pleasure in a cheaper cigar.  More power to ya!  You found something you enjoy for alot less.  This site is filled with lots of info that I'm sure you'll find helpful.  Enjoy  :smoker:
