I thought it was kind of unique and enjoyable myself. My only complaint is that I don't really care for the cut used in most any of the Sutliff blends I've had. Seems to always be a bit to coarse for my liking.

I see what you mean. Then again, it's easy to dry (this Man's best Friend need little or no drying time), easy to pack, easy to light and it stays lit.

Been smoking a lot of this Sutliff "Man's Best Friend" I just opened recently -- one of 4 free tins Altadis sent me when I bitched about never receiving my free promotion tin LOL. I expected it to be on OTC in a can, but this MBF is very good -- a mild but flavorful English blend with rum (NOT an aromatic though).
I heard today that Mac Baren just purchased Sutliff Tobacco from Altadis. Mac Baren takes over May 1st. The Sutliff general manager will take over as the new Sutliff Tobacco Company President at the Richmond, VA HQ/factory.

Though I own a few, I don't like the mouth feel of plastic, whether the Lucite is hand made from rod or molded.
I am using the Walker Briar Works cleaner ($11 shipped) and finishing up with a drop of Obsidian Oil ($8 lasts forever) on my vulcanite stems.
The older vulcanite takes more maintenance, sure. But the newer rubber stems are no big deal.

Bayou Morning is nice, burns cool, nic is just right, but it has a sort of leaf that doesn't work for me. I had this happen before with many of Jack Peterson's (Sterling Tobacco Co., PA) blends. The offending leaf tastes (to me) like a low quality CT Shade wrapper, for some reason -- I don't like that.

Low Country Waccamaw has a lot of Saint James Perique and Turkish Izmir and the Carolina virginias are creamy with a touch of sweet to tie things all together. Good price, too -- under $9 for 2 oz. can at SPC. If you think you'd like a Va/Per with an interesting twist, go for it. I am seriously thinking of adding several more cans to my cellar -- it should age extremely well.
some Old Dark Fired by the pool. good smoke once it gets nice and smoldering.
I've been stocking up for the big tax hike coming and grabbed a pound box among other things. if the predictions come to pass it will be better than hard currency.
If you love cigars and are a member of CRA like I am, good for you -- for just a little coin, you're actually doing something to protect our cigar hobby rather than just playing pocket pool and letting "the other guy" take care of it.
As fr pipe tobacco, sure, there' some effort going on, but it's limp wristed at best. Look at our B&Ms (or what's left of them). Most are heavy into cigars, hardly any pipe tobacco. Pipes? Sure -- glass ones.
Join CRA, support IPCPR and ask what you can do to protect our pipe and cigar hobby.
Sure, I "hoard" stuff. But when push comes to shove, doing a Pontius Pilate on this and waiting for the other guy to do it? Well bend over buddy.

Solani Silver Flake 660 is one of my favorite flakes. It's one long single flake of Va/Bur and a work of art by master blender R. Will.
If you get some, unless you plan on smoking it up right away, jar it, because the 100 gram tin is not vacuum sealed.
I am currently smoking what is to become my favorite. wow! GLP Union Square. this is as smooth as it gets with a rich and complex smoke. outstanding flake!

Since you have the Nording and basically just starting out, I'd recommend McClelland Craftsbury Series: Frog Morton Cellar. The Cellar is a "crossover" combining McClelland's famous virginias, a bit of specially processed latakia and cavendish -- aged in re-purposed bourbon casks, which adds a nice touch of flavor to the blend.
P&C has a promotion on McClelland pipe tobacco blends ATM -- a 50 gram can of the Cellar is $8.88.
