| I happen to love Candela wrapper and take every opportunity to try the limited ones available. This starts typically for a Candela with notes of cut grass and hay. It transitions adding a nice punch of cinnamon spice and a woody note. Definately full medium profile. Construction was excellent with only one touch up needed. Draw was spot on. I am a fan of the many La Palina blends and now add tthis as one I enjoy. | |

| Humidor time: 121 days Humidimeter reading: Head - 62, foot - 56 Appearance and construction: A few veins, a light sheen, and a moderately soft pack with no soft spots... Gave it a single shallow V-cut and PLD was open. (8/10) Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of tobacco. The light gave a mild/medium profile with a spicy retro and notes of light wood, spice, and a hint of citrus. The spice in the nose faded after a few puffs with the other flavors staying consistent throughout. No transitions to note but this was very flavorful with plenty of spice and that citrus hint to keep things interesting throughout. Strength was about medium. (32/35)  Smoking characteristics: The light produced an easy draw, good smoke volume, and an even burn to start. The burn stayed even through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/4" leaving a cone. Things were then uneventful down to the nub with draw and smoke output remaining optimal throughout. It was a fast-burning stick for its size, clocking in at well under an hour from light to nub. (19/20) Overall impression: This one came in a five-pack from C-bid awhile back and this was the sixth vitola I've had from this blend. My reviews of the previous sticks mostly show what I'd already arrived at from memory - the blend in this one has changed a bit as my memory of this one is that it was considerably lighter in body than what I was getting from this one. Light and airy with a certain amount of creaminess is what I remember and this one was much closer to the Man O' War Virtue blend, which I have recent experience with. Blend changes aside, it's still a great morning smoke with the conny flavors I always enjoy and I'll be smoking up the rest of my C-bid haul with the usual enthusiasm and reckless abandon... Gave it a double shallow V-cut and PLD was moderately open. (8/10) Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of something sweet. The light gave a medium-bodied profile with a slightly spicy retro and a note of cardboard with hints of butter and spice. The spice in the nose faded quickly with the other flavors staying consistent throughout. No transitions to note and, while this wasn't completely horrible, it was at least within spitting distance of "pretty bad". I didn't get anything resembling whiskey and what I did get was something like hot, buttered cardboard. Somehow, I managed to get through the whole thing... Strength was medium at best. (8/35)  Smoking characteristics: The light produced a moderately easy draw, good smoke volume, and an even burn to start. The burn stayed even through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/4" leaving a small cone. The stick tunneled a bit in the 2nd third and was trying to go out, but I managed to keep it going until it recovered. The burn line got wavy/lopsided in the last third but self-corrected before reaching the nub. Draw and smoke output remained optimal throughout except when it was tunneling. (17/20) Overall impression: This one came in a five-pack from C-bid awhile back and was definitely one of the least-wise choices I made during that shopping spree. This stick has been reviewed here twice previously, the last being back in 2010, with both reviews saying the flavors aren't up to much and it doesn't appear the blend has changed much since. Dunno, but if any stick was begging for a re-blend, it has to be this one. Now, what to do with the rest of this five-pack as I don't think they're going to get smoked, at least by me... The light gave a medium/full profile with a spicy retro and notes of rich wood, coffee, and spice. The spice in the nose faded after a few puffs with the other flavors staying consistent throughout. No transitions to note but this was quite flavorful with plenty of spice in the mix to keep things interesting throughout. Strength was about medium. (30/35)  Smoking characteristics: The light produced a moderately tight draw, smoke volume below optimal, and an even burn to start. The burn got wavy, then lopsided through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/2" on the low side of the burn line. Post-ashing, I gave it a touch-up as it showed no signs of self-correction. The burn continued wavily but self-correcting through the 2nd third and things were otherwise uneventful down to the nub. Draw and smoke output reached the low side of optimal part way through the 2nd third but never reached fully optimal before reaching the nub. (10/20) Overall impression: This one came in a five-pack from C-bid awhile back. Unfortunately, it was a bit tightly packed resulting in the aforementioned reduced draw and smoke output all the way through. Flavors were nice, so I'll update this review should the remaining sticks perform any better. (25/35) Burn time: 1:95 Rating: 73 | |

| I do not smoke enough of Punchs portfolio and say that after I enjoy another of the line. This was a very solid Connecticut Shade cigar. Hints of bread and light roast coffee. White pepper spice helps give this a medium flavor profile so definately not a bland connie. Construction was impeccable with smooth draw and combustion. A consistent and tasty cigar. | |

Things were then uneventful down to the nub with draw and smoke output remaining optimal except during the brief tunneling episode. It was a slow-burning smoke, clocking in past 2 hours from light to nub. (18/20) Overall impression: This one came in a five-pack from C-bid awhile back and this was the 2nd vitola I've had from this blend, the churchill being the first. My review of that one was over five years ago and doesn't really resemble what I'm reporting here other than the butter hint but my palate has probably changed in the meantime. Pretty nice morning smoke, in any case, albeit a bit stronger than your average conny stick but it's got Mexican leaf in the filler and a Sumatra binder, so that probably has something to do with the increased strength. Definitely tasty, though, and pretty good construction so I'll enjoy smoking up the rest of this five-pack. (30/35) Burn time: 2:03 Rating: 87 | |

| This is the best cigar I have had to date. It starts out with honeysuckle and citrus, progresses to butter and parmesan reggiano, then brioche and finishes with allspice, and dark chocolate. Smoking this cigar was like the first time I tasted a very serious wine, or very serious whiskey. | |

| Pretty classic, very well made Connecticut wrapped Dominican. Mild, creamy, buttery, honey throughout. I found it to be reminiscent of some of my favorite of this type, Perdomo Champagne, Room 101 Tobacconaut, but at an even lower price point than those, which are both good value. | |

| Part of the Cigar Authority contenders pack for their cigar of the year. The construction, ash and burn was great. Started out nutty and with a tiny bit of coffee, and cocoa, dry dry dry San Andres for sure. remained consistent until the final third when some eucalyptus and dark chocolate/cayenne came out. Super nutty, and toasted oak were main notes. Overall was pretty boring for middle, but not bad | |

Things continued uneventfully through the 2nd third followed by a wrapper split developing in the last third but this didn't impact smokeability before reaching the nub. Draw and smoke output remained optimal throughout. (19/20) Overall impression: This one came in a five-pack from C-bid awhile back and this was the 2nd vitola I've had from this blend, the robusto being the first. My review of that one was from over five years ago and doesn't bear much resemblance, flavor-wise, to this one, but that's probably mostly due to my palate changing in the meantime. It appears I enjoyed this one quite a bit more than the robusto, though, and I'm now looking forward to smoking up the rest of this five-pack with the usual reckless abandon and will likely get more.
