| Humidor time: 224 days Humidimeter reading: Head - 70, foot - 59 Appearance and construction: A couple minor veins, an oily sheen, box-pressed, and a moderately soft pack with no soft spots... Gave it a single clip with the guillotine and PLD was moderately open. (8/10) Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of tobacco. The light gave a full-bodied profile with a very spicy retro and notes of black pepper, leather, spice, and a hint of coffee. The spice in the nose faded after a few puffs with the other flavors mellowing a bit through the first third and the body receding towards medium/full. This all then stayed consistent through the remainder. Very tasty, overall, with plenty of spice in the mix to keep things interesting throughout. Strength was about medium or a bit better. (32/35)  Smoking characteristics: The light produced a moderately easy draw, smoke volume on the low side of optimal, and an even burn to start. The burn was a bit wavy but self-correcting through the first third with the stick trying to tunnel a bit but it recovered on its own prior to the ash falling past 1" leaving a small cone. Smoke output hadn't quite reached optimal as of yet so I gave it a 2nd clip which helped to improve smoke output slightly. The burn continued wavily in the 2nd third and then got lopsided and a touch-up was needed. Things then proceeded more or less uneventfully down to the nub although draw and smoke output never quite reached optimal. It was a quick-burning smoke for its size, clocking in at exactly one hour from light to nub. (12/20) Overall impression: Another C-bid single, this one, and this was the 2nd vitola I've had from this blend, the toro being the first. Very similar experience to that one, both flavor-wise and construction-wise, with the flavors being great and the construction being somewhat less so. I've smoked through a number of the toros, actually, and I seem to remember some of those, at least, performing well, so if I buy any more, it'll be those. (28/35) Burn time: 1:00 Rating: 80 | |

| Firm in the core with a bit of float, medium brown wrapper with a bit of mottling, one long micro vein & shiny with oils. PLA wheat-y grass; PLT wood & whiskey; PLD easy. An easy toast, light & draw, a very even burn, & a grass & herb smoke. Slightly sharp wood notes & a little pepper & herbal spice in mouth & retro start. The sharp edges fade in the 1st 1/3 as the profile settles into a mild-medium strength smoke. Later there's touches of cream, earth & grasses waft in. Past the 1/2 there is a sweet baking note especially in the smooth finish of wood & earth interlaced with the other flavors. The body is medium at best. Very nice smoke. (92) | |

| Review after smoking one stick (69%Rh @ 65°F for 37 days humi time): Heavy in the hand, well rolled cigar. Draw was medium+. Strength was solid medium, body was medium-full. Strong black pepper up front, with caramel and raisin sweetness in the background. Espresso and earthy notes become stronger in the 2nd half. Occasional baking spice notes. Burn was spot on perfect the whole way through. Wished there was a little more development than the pepper calming down and the espresso and earth getting stronger. Overall a good smoke, and a very reasonable price point considering the roll quality, this stick smoked more like a $10+. I'd smoke another for sure. | |

Gave it a single shallow V-cut and PLD was moderately open. (8/10) Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of rich tobacco. The light gave a full-bodied profile with a spicy retro and notes of black pepper, black coffee, leather, spice, and something sharp and tangy. The spice in the nose faded after a few puffs with the other flavors mellowing a bit through the first third and the sharp tangy note fading quickly once the closed foot was burned through. No further transitions to note but this was quite flavorful and pretty close to my wheelhouse for a fuller blend. Strength was about medium. (32/35)  Smoking characteristics: The light produced an easy draw, good smoke volume, and an even burn to start. The burn stayed even through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/4" leaving a cone. Things were then uneventful down to the nub with draw and smoke output remaining optimal throughout. (20/20) Overall impression: Another C-bid single, this one, and a very nice smoke with flavor for days and excellent construction. Would definitely smoke this one again and will likely look for a fiver of these next time I'm at C-bid. (32/35) Burn time: 1:22 Rating: 92 | |

| A firm, medium brown, oily cigar with no veins. PLA cooked meat; PLT earth & meat; PLD mod easy. An easy toast & light, a moderately easy draw, an even burn needing no work, & a sharp wood smoke. Openers are toasty wood, earth & some black pepper in mouth & retro. This stick is tasty from the start & the spice eases in the mouth early in the 1/3. The 2nd 1/3 heralds some earthy spices like cumin, saffron & tumeric making for a rich flavor experience. The wood & earth pick in volume in the back 1/2 but the finish is not heavy. The strength & body are both medium plus. This corona is a great size, a perfect performer & a savory treat. (93) | |

Gave it a double shallow V-cut and PLD was moderately tight. (7/10) Flavor: PLA gave a whiff of tobacco. The light gave a medium/full profile with a spicy retro and notes of dark wood, coffee, and spice. The spice in the nose faded quickly with the other flavors gradually mellowing through the first third with the body receding towards medium+. This slightly mellower profile then stayed consistent through the remainder. Not bad, overall, and decently tasty but it missed my wheelhouse by a bit. Strength was about medium. (29/35)  Smoking characteristics: The light produced a moderately tight draw, smoke volume somewhat below optimal, and a wavy burn to start. One side of the foot didn't want to light as quickly as the rest of it so I had to give it a touch-up right out of the gate and it then consented to start burning. The burn stayed even through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/4" leaving a small cone. Smoke output was gradually improving by this point and finally reached optimal shortly into the 2nd third. Things were then uneventful through the remainder and down to the nub. Draw and smoke output remained optimal from the 2nd third on. It was a slow-burning smoke, clocking in at nearly two hours from light to nub. (15/20) Overall impression: Yet another C-bid single, this one, and the first smoke I've had from this brand, which is apparently an off-shoot of the whiskey brand by the same name. Not a bad smoke, but it lost points with both flavor and construction. I'd probably smoke it again if it were handed to me but I doubt if I'll buy more of these. | 1 cigar smoked. Well made, wavy burn line, but always self-correcting. Got this stick in the Diesel Torpedo sampler 5pak, from CBid. Looking around, that is the only way you can get this vitola. This one has sat in the humi for 3 months at 69Rh /65°F. Cut it with a v-cutter. Lighter in spice and pepper than other Diesel blends, but still rich in leather, espresso, cedar, and earth. Pepper is there, just not ever-present. Med full body, medium strength. Short finish on this one, with espresso being the most long lasting note. Good budget cigar, but nothing stellar for me. If I saw the 5pak going cheap, I'd probably pick up another one, but I wouldn't go searching it out. | |

Not much going on with this one but it was most likely due to the thin smoke volume I was getting at this point. As smoke production picked up in the 2nd third a note of spice came in, both in the nose and on the palate along with a hint of butter and this made it somewhat more interesting, but it was still mostly on the bland side and this didn't change through the remainder. Strength was medium at best. (25/35)  Smoking characteristics: The light produced a moderately tight draw, thin smoke volume, and an even burn to start. I quickly gave it a 2nd shallow V-cut on top of the initial cut but this didn't improve smoke output to any significant degree. The burn was a bit wavy but self-correcting through the first third with the ash falling at 1 1/2" leaving a cone. Smoke output was gradually improving by this point and reached the low side of optimal shortly into the 2nd third. The burn continued wavily after the first ashing and then got lopsided in the latter part of the 2nd third and got a touch-up. Same story in the last third with another touch-up needed before reaching the nub. Draw and smoke output remained at the low side of optimal from the 2nd third on. (12/20) Overall impression: Another C-bid single, this one, and this was the third vitola I've had from this blend, the first two being the robusto and toro. My reviews of the first two show a similar experience, flavor-wise, and the toro had similar construction issues to this one. This one was a pleasant enough smoke, construction issues aside, but if I buy any more of these it'll like be the robusto as I remember those being pretty good smokes. | A firm, oily, pig-tailed, closed-foot chocolate brown stick mostly covered in bands & showing a couple veins. PLA a bit of baking; PLT hay; PLD mod. A quick & easy toast & light, a mod draw, an even burn, & a leather smoke. Heavy leather, a touch of earth & bakers chocolate, & an herbal pepper spice in mouth & retro start. The leather mellows nicely in the 1/3 allowing the earth & a hint of hay to come out. The strength is medium plus. Some bitter coffee joins in the 2nd 1/3 & the chocolate is relegated to the finish. Some non-descript wood tones join in the last 1/3 & the profile & finish are an enjoyable mix of heavy & sweet. The body is upper medium. Quite good. (90) | |
