NOTE: This was a blind review, so our reviewers only received an unbanded cigar to sample and critique.

RoMa Craft Tobac has built a solid following with its stateside releases, and a few years back the company seemed to double down on its U.S. fans' loyalty by creating a new line that wouldn't be available domestically. There's nothing like wanting something you just can't have, or may not be allowed to have, or really even supposed to have. The Wunder|Lust debuted exclusively in Germany in February 2016 as a limited release in 4 sizes.  In September 2019, a fifth size of the Wunder|Lust vitola was released, a corona gorda size named Fiorella in honor of Skip Martin's youngest daughter. Limited in number to 5,000 cigars. Obviously, U.S. cigar aficionados are finding ways to obtain a few of these to smoke and enjoy.

This cigar was enjoyed with Black Coffee

Pre-Light: 8 Points of 10 Possible

The initial Pre-Light Draw hinted of both sweet and spicy. The sweetness I picked up was like dark chocolate / cocoa and the spice was of black pepper with a hint of leather. I was excited to give it a light.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

Toasted the foot and it initially let off a lot of light gray smoke. It seemed to settle down and I was on my way. The ash too was light gray, remained firm and held on for about a 1/2 inch before falling off into nice even clumps.

The burn rate was excellent. I attribute this to the draw having a bit of resistance to it.

It needed a re-light in the final third but other than that, no issues.  The final third let off quite a bit of smoke.

Construction: 26 Points of 30 Possible

Nice cap and cigar was well constructed.  The wrapper was a beautiful, dark brown with minimal veins. It had a leathery feel to it. Not too silky smooth and not "toothy".

As mentioned above, the draw had a slight resistance to which I actually prefer.  It made me work for it and forced me to take my time to enjoy it.

Flavor and Aroma: 42 Points of 45 Possible

I'll start with the aroma.  This cigar had a very pleasant, not over-powering aroma.  It was so nice, my wife (not a fan of cigars) even commented on it, with "That smells nice" - She was right.  It did.

Flavor:
First third started out with a bit of spice and I never picked up any of the sweetness from the Pre-Light Draw.

Second third: Less peppery spice but it as still there before transitioning into more of a leathery/creamy taste.

Final third: A really nice smooth finish which I took down to the nub. No real complex flavors that I could discern. Just a good solid cigar.

Summary

Thank you bstesslĀ (Brian) for sponsoring and thanks Bruce (Briesq) for allowing me to participate.

If you couldn't tell by the notes above, I really liked this cigar. Blind tastings are exciting because I have no idea what I'm smoking. This one did not disappoint.  It was an excellent smoke which lasted well over an hour and I'd say was more medium-full than just medium. It was extremely enjoyable and I can't wait to find out what it was.
