RoMa Craft Tobac has built a solid following with its stateside releases, and a few years back the company seemed to double down on its U.S. fans' loyalty by creating a new line that wouldn't be available domestically. There's nothing like wanting something you just can't have, or may not be allowed to have, or really even supposed to have. The Wunder|Lust debuted exclusively in Germany in February 2016 as a limited release in 4 sizes.  In September 2019, a fifth size of the Wunder|Lust vitola was released, a corona gorda size named Fiorella in honor of Skip Martin's youngest daughter. Limited in number to 5,000 cigars. Obviously, U.S. cigar aficionados are finding ways to obtain a few of these to smoke and enjoy.

Pre-Light: 9 Points of 10 Possible

Medium/dark leathery cigar with small smooth veins, not much of an oily sheen and even in color. Perfectly applied what appears to be a triple cap that matches the flat, unnoticeable seams. Cigar is firm throughout but has a slight give with no soft spots or knots. Wrapper smells of light cedar and cocoa and the foot gives off sweet cedar and cherry notes. Used my Colibri V cutter for a perfect cut with no issues.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

Pre-light draw shows perfect resistance and gives a light, woody flavor. Cigar toasted and light up perfectly and draw is ideal for me. Ash starts off quite flaky and makes me nervous enough to give it a slight tap which is enough to free the almost pure white ash from the cigar. Smoke output is good on the puff and does not let off too much as it sits. Ash continues to be flaky but slightly more stable as I get further into the cigar. Burn continues perfectly straight and burn rate seems right on for the size.

Construction: 26 Points of 30 Possible

Draw is performing perfectly throughout with a good medium resistance and cap remains strong and fully attached with no peeling. The wrapper is developing small cracks during the smoke, but they are not affecting the burn or smoking experience in any way.

Flavor and Aroma: 41 Points of 45 Possible

Starts off with honey and burnt sugar, retro is white pepper. Starting to get gingerbread cookie and retro is switching to more of a cinnamon burn and less pepper. Second third is bringing a lot of cocoa and sweet cinnamon toast with a little burnt caramel. Final third flavors remain consistent with the addition of a buttery, earthy flavor that adds a nice additional layer to the smoke. I feel the nicotine a little starting at the 2 inch mark but never gets too strong.

Summary

Really enjoyable cigar that performed well throughout and provided great sweet cocoa, buttery toast and earthy flavors with some white pepper and cinnamon on the retro. I would say it is not Cuban or Dominican and would lean toward Nicaragua as the country of origin. Reminds me of Las Calaveras I have smoked before. I would add some of these to my collection as I enjoyed the cigar from beginning to end.
