Inspired by Zino Davidoff's pioneering spirit, Davidoff Master Blenders went on an exploration for a new type of blend that would stimulate both the bitter and sweet taste buds. Finally, they found it in Nicaragua, where the earth is infused by the fiery activity of some of the country's forty volcanoes. The elegant Davidoff Nicaragua is spicy and peppery at the beginning, before evolving into a pleasant smoke with the familiar delight of the dual Davidoff sweet and dark bitter chocolate notes. It is only Nicaraguan Puro they've ever released, and combines a 10-year-aged Habano Seed Nicaraguan Rosado wrapper with a Jalapa binder and filler tobaccos from Nicaragua's best growing regions: Ometepe, Condega, and EstelĂ.

This cigar was enjoyed with Water

Pre-Light: 9 Points of 10 Possible

Slightly oily, slightly veiny. Cocoa colored wrapper. Can barely see the seems of the cap and wrapper.

Feel of the cigar is firm. The aroma is cedar as is the cold draw.

Overall a good looking cigar.

Lighting and Burn: 15 Points of 15 Possible

Open draw that provides plentiful smoke output. The ash is a light grey and solid. Holding on in inch+ chunks before falling off.

The cigar required no relights or touch-ups. The burn line never wavered. Once lit, the cigar burned perfectly.

Total smoke time was 1:20

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

Slightly veiny/lumpy wrapper, but nothing that affected the performance. The cap and wrapper are perfectly applied with seem that are barely visible.

I used a v cut which provided a nice open draw.

Flavor and Aroma: 39 Points of 45 Possible

1st Half: The profile is very smooth. I was expecting some pepper from the Nicaraguan tobacco but it's mainly a creamy sweetness, cedar with a touch of earthiness. There's a touch of baking spice, cinnamon possibly. It's light but gives a little bite on the tip of my tongue.

2nd Half: Here's come the Nico spice/pepper. The creamy sweetness gives way to pepper on the tongue. Cedar and earth continue on from the first half. Wonderful mix of flavors between the 2 halves.

Summary

Not your typical Davidoff because it's a Nicaraguan Puro, this is one of my favorites. Really enjoyable profile along with it being effortless to smoke make this a winner.

Thanks to Brad for providing the cigar and the Xiphos hitchhikers.
