As the name of this cigar would suggest, the wrapper is Havana Seed CT #142, a variation of a Cuban-seed tobacco grown in Connecticut. Much of the rest of the line is shared with the original Tabernacle: the same filler components and the same four sizes. That means a Mexican San Andrés binder over a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, though Nicholas Melillo has said there is less Honduran tobacco than the original line.

Pre-Light: 10 Points of 10 Possible

Nice dark chocolate wrapper. Firm feel, no soft spots, feels well rolled. Not oily, but I wouldn't call a cigar dry that's been properly humidified so not dry either.

Minimal veins, almost unnoticeable. Great looking cigar. I really like the band. Not much else to say, it's a great looking cigar and I'd probably purchase it without knowing what it is just by the looks.

Lighting and Burn: 12 Points of 15 Possible

Smoke time pushed 2 hours, but there were times I maybe was going a bit slow because I also had minor issues keeping it fully burning. Didn't need to relight it but needed more than a puff to heat it back up.

The burn line was a little wavy a times but not so bad to require a touch-up.

The ash was solid holding on like a champ. Not once did I loose it in my lap and that's extremely rare for me so extra points there.

Plenty of smoke volume and smooth retrohales. It was an easy cigar to smoke but did require some attention to keep it hot....the fact that it was only like 35 degrees out might have contributed to that.

Construction: 26 Points of 30 Possible

As noted previously the burn was wavy at times but no tunneling or anything that required attention. The draw was slightly more open than I prefer. These were the only minor negatives with the construction. I have smoked one of these before and I felt the first one was perfect, draw and burn. So construction is consistently good.

It's a very nice looking cigar, smooth wrapper, firm feel. Definitely a quality roll.

Flavor and Aroma: 40 Points of 45 Possible

I didn't really feel like there were hard transition points. The profile did change at times but always stayed close to the main profile of earth and nuts.

The first couple inches seemed lacking, really just earthy to start and kind of muted. It took a little time to open up and that's my only negative for the profile.

The were points where I tasted an earthy anise note that I found very enjoyable. I might find anise in a lot of cigars but it could be what I enjoy in a cigar. I often wonder if anyone else finds something similar. It puts a cigar into the "smoke again" category for me every time.

Another kind of odd note I got was like metallic tootsie roll. Chocolate earth and nuts with this metallic mouth feel, not necessary a taste but part of the profile for me. I enjoyed it.

Summary

This is the second time I've smoke this cigar. The first was the corona though. Overall I really enjoy this blend. My be my favorite from Foundation, Really close to the original Wiseman.
