The smoke is a full-throttle experience that assaults your palate at break-neck speed, races around your mouth for a hundred miles, and leaves your taste buds in a cloud of power, intensity, and excitement. The dark wrapper leaf utilized on Jericho Hill is a nod to "The Man in Black". Manufactured at My Father Cigars S.A., Esteli, Nicaragua, and distributed by Crowned Heads.

This cigar was enjoyed with Water

Pre-Light: 8 Points of 10 Possible

The cigar is approximately 7 1/2 x 40. Dark maduro wrapper. There are some pretty good veins and some lumps along the length of the cigar. Slightly oily feel.

The cigar has a pigtail cap. The aroma is a barnyard, burnt tobacco mix.

Lighting and Burn: 15 Points of 15 Possible

Once lit the cigar burned perfectly. Good pace, never getting too hot. The salt and pepper ash was solid, holding for 1/2 to 3/4 inch at a time. Very impressive for a skinny cigar.

The burn line was incredibly straight, never wavering. Again very impressive for a long skinny cigar.

Smoke volume was surprisingly great. I thought that the draw was a touch tight but it did not affect the smoke volume.

Construction: 25 Points of 30 Possible

Kind of an ugly cigar. Veins and lumps. The wrapper is dark and oily. Nicely applied pigtail cap.

The draw was a touch tighter than ideal for me but didn't seem to detract from the actual smoke draw.

See the notes for lighting and burn, the construction is excellent. The only minus is the veiny lumping wrapper.

Flavor and Aroma: 42 Points of 45 Possible

Dark roast coffee, hint of chocolate. Earthy with just a hint of spice on the tongue.

About 1/3 in there's a hint of cedar sweetness and very faint dark berries. This note sticks on the tongue long after each draw. It's beginning to remind me of anise - dark fruit, little spice.

Earthy leather and coffee are the main flavors. Just a hint of spice on the back of the tongue and on the retro.

The flavors seem pretty consistent throughout. At different points along the way one of the notes would be more forward and other times another note would be forward. I would have liked just a bit more of the sweetness/dark berry note.

Definitely would call this full bodied and medium, med-full strength.

Summary

This review was done blind. Thank you Stephen for including me.

My first thought was that this is a Drew Estate or maybe a Foundation Wise Man Maduro, but I'm going with the Crowned Heads Four Kicks Maduro. I never had the lancero, but the flavor profile seems correct. But it's also very similar to the profile of a Drew Estate Liga so....

Very enjoyable cigar, right up my ally and it smoked perfectly. Really couldn't ask for much more.
