Crowned Heads teamed up with a little-known factory called Tabacalera Pichardo out of Nicaragua. [Tabacalera Pichardo was founded by Eradio Pichardo, a Cuban agronomist back in 2005.] They were tasked with producing a value-conscious alternative line to Crowned Head's Jericho Hill brand line of cigars, originally as an exclusive for Thompson Cigar Co. but later rolled out nationally.

As for the name, it is inspired by Johnny Cash's "Cocaine Blues." The Juárez part comes from, "...made a good run, but I run too slow; they overtook me down in Juárez, Mexico." OBS is a reference to Orange Blossom Special, which was another song on the album at Folsom Prison.

Pre-Light: 9 Points of 10 Possible

This was a blind review. This stick is a good looking robusto with a slightly veiny wrapper. The wrapper is slightly oily with no soft spots. I get a nice candy sweetness smell on the wrapper. I see only a double cap on this stick.

Lighting and Burn: 15 Points of 15 Possible

The burn on this stick is impeccable: It hardly ever waivers for the entire stick. The ash is a light gray and holds for an inch at a time with great smoke volume. No trouble on this stick the construction is top notch.

Construction: 27 Points of 30 Possible

The wrapper is slightly oily and veiny but nothing in the major variety. The draw is top notch in my books and never varies. Everything about this stick cries quality in spades. I never had any relights or waivers on the burn.

Flavor and Aroma: 40 Points of 45 Possible

The stick fires up nicely and keeps going the entire stick. The stick starts with a little spice but no pepper. I get a sweet oak flavor with some cinnamon. The flavor, I have a hard time to describe, but its very pleasant. The finish is very short and the strength is light to say the least. So far so good. This portion lasts about 35min.

2nd Third - As I enter this stage there is still no strength with a short finish. Still no pepper or spice on retro but now I get cedar which I love, I also get a honey sweetness and still some flavors that are great. This section lasts about 25min.

Final Third - Burn and smoke output are still going strong. Finish is short and the strength is still on the lite side. I like this no strength and lots of flavor. Still getting cedar, honey sweetness with no pepper or spice on the retrohale. I still get a slight oak flavor with some other flavors I just can't put my finger on. I must say they are enjoyable. This final third lasts about 20min and I finally put it down with a inch left.

Summary

I would like to thank Pete for the chance to review this stick. I wish I could put some flavors to the taste I was getting.  All I can say is that they were great. Lots of flavors, no strength, right up my alley.  The only thing that might make it better would be some pepper but that is no deal breaker. The total burn time 1hr. and 20min and all of it was enjoyable. I will be very interested in what this smoke is. Again thanks Pete.
