This cigar features an American-heavy tobacco blend and use of an ever growing popular trend, barrel aging, with filler tobacco being placed in Kentucky bourbons barrels for five months. Barrel aging is a very tedious and hands-on process. They are aging around 2,000 lbs of Corojo filler tobacco and rotating the barrels one leaf at a time every few weeks. Each batch takes a full five months to complete and requires constant attention to ensure the proper journey for this special tobacco.

This cigar was enjoyed with Grey Goose - orange juice and Galliano float.

Pre-Light: 9 Points of 10 Possible

This stick was received from Adam after being aged in his Humi for nearly 4 years. Once I received it, I threw it in my Humi at 68RH / 70 degree temp before taking it out to rest at room RH and temp for about 5 days. It was semi oily (considering it's age), with very small veins. It was firm to the touch and had a pleasing aroma of earthy tobacco and vanilla. The cap was perfect with a v-cut used. Cold draw had a taste of nuts, earth / grass and sweet vanilla.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

This stick toasted nicely and had a relative even burn throughout. Some minor touch ups were needed but nothing drastic. No-relights were required. The stick gave off a lot of grey smoke - and held ash in 1 to 1-1/2 inch segments. Total burn time was nearly 70 minutes.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

This stick was well constructed with no defects noted. The cold initial draw was just slightly difficult, but after light up the draw was dang near perfect throughout. The wrapper and cap were both without any noticeable defects or imperfections.

Flavor and Aroma: 42 Points of 45 Possible

As I have stated before, Camacho is one of my favorite cigars. Some of the blends have distinct flavor profiles in each third, and others are more subtle during the smoking experience. I found this stick to be relatively the same in the first and second thirds - with the final third "popping" with the classic Camacho  peppery finish. The first and second segments were  medium bodied with flavors of earth, grass, sweet mild vanilla and of course signature bourbon. Sometimes, the peppery finish of the Camacho cigars can be a bit harsh and hot - but not in this case. No burning in the throat and no bitter ending.

Summary

AAAWWWW YES - always find Camachos well worth the time and price. From the "looks" of the stick, impressive label designs and price point - the Camacho Brand is hard to beat. I liked this stick and feel the lengthy aging to have blended the flavors nicely and mellowed out the complexity and flavor profile. I will certainly smoke more of these along with many varieties from the Camacho line. THANK YOU to both Adam and Bruce for letting me "play along" on this one.
