Revitalized in 2019, Dissident cigars returned after a four-year hiatus, having changed ownership and moved production to Black Label Trading Company's Fábrica Oveja Negra. With updated artwork and reworked blends, Dissident cigars prioritizes quality components and construction, utilizing traditional methods but with a rebellious approach that defies complacency.

The Tirade cigar is a single-vitola line, offered in a 5.5" x 46 Corona Gorda size, and comprises a Mexican San Andrés wrapper with an Ecuadorian binder and filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Though not a special-edition series, the Tirade isn't a regular-production cigar from Dissident and instead is created in small batches at a slightly greater frequency than what Dissident would consider pure, special-edition lines.

This cigar was enjoyed with Water

Pre-Light: 9 Points of 10 Possible

Great looking stick. Nice dark chocolate wrapper with really no prominent veins, really nice selection. Cigar is smooth with a nice triple cap that cut super clean. Feels like it's bunched really nice as well, not too hard or too soft, looking forward to getting it lit.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

Cigar lit right up with no issues. Pretty wavy burn, but nothing that needed touched up, wasn't a razor line, but it wasn't annoying either. It was a darker grey ash that held on in inches, again it was nicely rolled. Smoke volume was plenty ample.

Construction: 25 Points of 30 Possible

Stick was well put together. Everything looked nice, I could go for a little nicer band, but that doesn't make the cigar. It was pretty plain compared to some of the fancier embossing that goes on now. But again the band doesn't make the cigar n it was well rolled, bunched, and wrapper selected nicely. Cap cut clean and didn't flag or come unraveled, as I've mentioned many times this is a pet peeve of mine.

Flavor and Aroma: 40 Points of 45 Possible

The pre-light gave off a nice pull of sweet cedar n rich earthy nut sweetness. Fired it up and I again got the notes of chocolate and a baked bread, very pleasant, in the medium range. The pulls were smooth, the cigar never got hot even for being a 46 ring, stayed smooth throughout which was very nice. 2nd 3rd I picked up some hints of pepper that kind of pushed over top of the nuts and bread, wish it would've just stayed without the pepper. Last 3rd was pretty much the same, once that pepper hit for me it was hard to pick up much else. It wasn't bad, but it started off so nice, that I personally wished it would've just stayed on the nutty/ sweet side without the more aggressive pepper, but it was still a very good stick. Smoke time was right around an hour for me.

Summary

Thanks again to my bro Byron and Cigar Geeks for giving me the chance to review this stick. I haven't smoked much from this manufacturer/ factory, but this is a very smooth and good stick, I'd be interested to see if I could find something as dark, but maybe not as spicy from them. Appreciate the chance to give my review, thanks again!!!
