Welcome to a Geek Critique of a cigar generously provided to us by member Jon (Noblecigars) of noblecigars.com.  The cigar provided for this round is the NobleCigars Act 1.  Produced from one of the most well known factories in the world. The wrapper is aged for 3 years, and binder filler 5 years. It is a double ligero, and all are surprised as it doesn't feel like, but at the third burn will kick really hard and shift from medium-full to full. Special thanks goes out to Jon (Noblecigars) of noblecigars.com for providing the cigars!

Pre-Light: 9 Points of 10 Possible

Pre light aroma was of tobacco, wood and a bit musty. Wrapper is smooth and dry and nicely rolled. Cannon is firm to the touch with a little resistance. Cap is applied well and takes a straight cur well. Band stands out well against cigar, my eyes aren't what they used to be so I used my phone to zoom in and see the cool busts of a man and woman above the name.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

Burn is nice and straight with the ash holding on well for 1 inch or more until tapped off. Smoke volume is good, plenty of tasty smoke but not overwhelming. Partway thru the second half the burn started to wander right near the crack in the cannon and needed touch up but was great other than that.

Construction: 22 Points of 30 Possible

Wrapper had a prominent crack from right under the band towards the foot about 1+ inches long. Draw was perfect to  my liking with just enough resistance. Upon lighting another crack opened up near the foot of the cigar but caused no real issues. Cap was applied well and took a straight cut well.

Flavor and Aroma: 40 Points of 45 Possible

1/2; Just enough spice on the retrohale yet very smooth. Flavors of dry tobacco, coffee, spices and just a hint of bitterness. Towards the end of the first half I can taste a bit of the ligero kicking in.

2/2; Second half of the cigar kicks up the flavors a bit with some cedar coming into play and the bitterness fading away. Second half for me is more flavorful and enjoyable for me.

Summary

Overall a decent cigar other than a couple construction issues that I assume happened in shipping or handling. Thanks for allowing me to try out this new brand and blend.
Looking forward to trying out  Act 2 soon.
