This cigar was enjoyed with Miller High Life

Pre-Light: 17 Points of 10 Possible

My first impression was that this was not a pretty cigar. While it had an even, dark coloration, the wrapper had several large veins in it and was a bit lumpy. There was an area at the foot that looked scorched. There was a soft spot about 1" from the head of the cigar, but other than that the cigar was firm.

It cut easily and evenly with a double guillotine, and the cap did not crack or start peeling up. Pre-light aroma was sweet and earthy, with a floral undertone reminiscent of roses. Pre-light flavor was also sweet, with a fruity/floral taste.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

The cigar lit up easily with a triple torch, and burned fairly evenly for the whole length of the cigar, requiring only two small touch ups. The ash was tight and dark gray in color, and held for about 1.5". It produced a very generous amount of thick blueish smoke.

Construction: 24 Points of 30 Possible

The wrapper on this cigar was not in the best shape (despite coming in cello) when I got it. There was a big crack in the wrapper at the foot. Part of the wrapper was peeling up about 1/3 of the way from the foot, and there was a chip out the the wrapper around the middle. There were a few other small cracks. I was surprised that the peeling wrapper didn't cause any real burn issues.

The cap was firm and cut easily, without cracking or peeling. The draw was smooth and easy, and produced tons of smoke.

Flavor and Aroma: 30 Points of 45 Possible

This cigar is fairly full flavored, with a definite ligero bite to it. It left a bit of a burn in my throat that lasted about an hour after the cigar was done.

I was not thrilled with the initial flavor of this smoke. It started off extremely earthy, harsh and kind of bitter. After about a 1/2 inch, the flavors started to mellow out and get more pleasant. The first third was earthy and leathery with hints of coffee. The second third started to get sweeter. The flavors were earth and cedar with hints of florals. The last third developed even more sweetness. The flavors were earth, cedar and oak, with a definite taste of florals and herbs, with just a hint of a fruity undertone.

The smoke was fragrant, not overpowering, with a sweet floral kind of scent to it.

Summary

This cigar packed a lot of flavor, with decent complexity, a good even burn, and a significant nicotine kick.

All in all, I enjoyed this stick. While I might not purchase another for myself, I would not turn down one that was offered.
