Welcome to another Member sponsored Geek Critique generously sponsored by our member Kman (Kerry).  The cigar provided for this round is the Stolen Throne Yorktown Fleet Torpedo.

Stolen Throne cigars debuted in 2019 to great fanfare of cigar enthusiasts. The Yorktown Fleet is now their fourth regular production cigar, and was introduced during the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show. Like the other Stolen Throne cigars, the Yorktown Fleet is made at the Rojas Cigar Factory in EstelĂ, Nicaragua.  The name was chosen after Stolen Throne recently opened a new headquarters in Yorktown, Va. According to their website: "The Yorktown Fleet, a cigar built from history and adventure. Carefully hand-rolled to transport you back to a time when smoking was rebellious and a true embodiment of cool."

This cigar was enjoyed with Water

Pre-Light: 9 Points of 10 Possible

This is a great looking box pressed torpedo.  No wrapper flaws, consistent coloring, little to no veining.  Firm body, but not overly. Light aroma of light grassy notes and some mild white pepper.  Clean cut using cigar scissors, no fraying.

Lighting and Burn: 14 Points of 15 Possible

Cigar lights easily.  Initial burn is straight.  Ash is dark, flakey and layered but holds well with no ash drop off for over the first inch and half.  Smoke volume is very good on draws and light and wispy on rest.  Overall burn ate was excellent, well-paced.  No relights required and cigar remained lit after extended rest. No canoeing or tunneling issues.

Construction: 29 Points of 30 Possible

Overall construction was excellent. Wrapper had no flaws and presented no issues while smoking, no flaking or loose wrapper edges.  Exceptional draw, perhaps one of the very best I have ever had, smooth and free. Cap held up very well during the review smoke.

Flavor and Aroma: 40 Points of 45 Possible

First third: Initial draw was very light. No strong or predominate notes.  Early flavors pretty much matched the pre-light draw notes of light grassy, mild white pepper.  Retrohale was also mild with no additional notes picked up.  The white pepper picks up about an inch into the review, along with some baking notes.

Second third: Beginning to pick up some woody notes as we getting to the second third, still the pepper.  The retrohale now shows more pepper as you also begin to feels the pepper hit the front of the tongue.

Final third: Pepper and grassy notes have pretty much faded into the background as the woody, earthy note really take over.  Retrohale has also pretty much retuned to first third levels.

Summary

While not an overly complex cigar the mini swings in notes were smooth and in smaller enjoyable stages.  Found myself perhaps hotboxing this cigar I enjoyed it so much.  This is a cigar you enjoy so much you can get lost in the experience.   Smoked this late in the morning so just water to accompany but can see this pairing really well with a higher proof bourbon.
