This cigar was enjoyed with Mocha

Pre-Light: 18 Points of 10 Possible

This cigar had a slight oily feel to it. There were a few small veins in the wrapper.  The cap was well done.  Great presentation; I liked the double band with the banded foot.  I used a double guillotine for a straight cut.  The cigar was firm throughout without soft spots

Lighting and Burn: 10 Points of 15 Possible

I had some problems with the burn.  In the beginning it wanted to go out on me a couple of times, like it was over humidified.  I know it wasn't, it sat at 67% for 2 weeks.  When it was burning ok, I got plenty of smoke.  The ash was slightly light gray and flaky, and the burn, while a little off, didn't require corrections.  The thing that got me on this one was that I had to relight it 3 times in the first half.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

The construction on this cigar seemed well done; a nice cap and the wrapper was dark and fairly smooth.  A few small veins, but nothing distracting from the cigar.  While the rolling of this one was not completely smooth, it had a few slight bumps in it, was well done.  I liked the draw on this cigar, a slight restriction, but allowed plenty of smoke.

Flavor and Aroma: 28 Points of 45 Possible

This cigar started out medium full bodied with a hint of leather and earth.  I got a lot of strong flavors all the way through this cigar, but nothing that really grabbed my attention. In the second third I picked up on a hint of espresso, and the flavors built somewhat in the last 3/3. Of the flavors, nothing really complex.  The flavors on this cigar never reach the point where I really enjoyed them, it lacked complexity and remained the same throughout.

Summary

If this cigar had burned a little better and not had to be relit, I would have enjoyed it more.  I was expecting more in the flavor department.  While it was strong, it wasn't very complex and didn't leave me with the impression that I really needed to smoke this one again in the near future.  I recall smoking the robusto about a year ago and it seemed more complex and enjoyable.
