Welcome to another Member sponsored Geek Critique generously sponsored by our member BewareDaPenguin (Adam).  The cigar provided for this round is the Drew Estate Liga Privada H99 Connecticut Corojo Toro.

The H99 is the first regular production blend in the Liga Privada series to be introduced since 2009, and sold only to "qualifying Drew Diplomat Program retailers." Aside from the premium heritage of flavor and craftsmanship the brand is already well known for, the H99 is exciting due to its use of a Corojo-seed leaf grown deep in the Connecticut River Valley, giving it a delicious and complex spice found only in quality Corojo tobacco. Beneath that lies a rich Mexican San Andres binder and superb Nicaraguan and Honduran fillers.

"The H99 Connecticut Corojo is the triumphant result of hybridity, including traits of... dysfunction, functionality, flexibility, adaptability, survival, replicability, and most importantly procreation," said  Jonathan Drew, co-founder and president of Drew Estate, in a press release. "In all my 26 years of experience as a tobacco man, I have never witnessed a tobacco hybridization with the depth and body of this Stalk-Cut Habano and Connecticut Corojo leaf."

This cigar was enjoyed with Tea

Pre-Light: 9 Points of 10 Possible

Nice looking stick with a few noticeable veins. The canon was medium firm with one small soft spot near the middle. The head took a straight cut without any issues. I enjoyed the pre-light aroma: a bit fruity and not as earthy as most LP's, but appetizing nonetheless.

Lighting and Burn: 14 Points of 15 Possible

The cigar took the flame easily and burned well through most of the experience. One re-light was needed around the 3/4 mark. The salt and pepper ash held well. Plenty of hearty smoke to go around consistently, even in between draws.

Construction: 27 Points of 30 Possible

Other than the one soft spot, which did not cause any problems, the construction was good and similar to most of the Ligas I've tried. Although the bunching was even, I prefer a draw that could have had a little more resistance than this one. Both the cap and the wrapper held fast.

Flavor and Aroma: 43 Points of 45 Possible

First Third: a surprisingly mild start body-wise when compared to the abundance of flavour produced in the same space. Some bready sweetness coupled with some mild spice and then topped off with a good punch of earthy leather made this first third quite enjoyable. The cigar ended this phase at medium bodied.

Second Third: I liked that the body quickly picked up to medium-plus early in the second third and remained as such. The smoothness is worth mentioning, almost creamy like and more earthy tones join the party by the end of this third.

Last Third: I like the strength profile of this stick; not so much in your face, but more than enough to be noticed as it builds slowly. The cigar finishes with plenty of rich toasty goodness.

Summary

I have been wanting to try this cigar for some time now and I really appreciated the opportunity to do so. This cigar was well made with exceptional blending and rolling. Thank you Adam, it was a very good cigar and I really enjoyed the experience.
