Pre-Light: 14 Points of 10 Possible

This is a large cigar that feels deceivingly light in the hand. It looks dry and I was afraid that the wrapper would crack on me when cutting, but it didn't. There are no soft spots to speak of and overall it is a rather hard cigar. It has a unique smell that I can't quite put my finger on, something like a sweet hay. The initial taste on the lips is very light, but pleasant, cashews.

Lighting and Burn: 14 Points of 15 Possible

The cigar lit quickly and easily. It took no time at all to evenly toast the foot and get a good coal going. The burn was fast but razor sharp and I didn't have to touch it up a single time. The first ash held on to about 1.5 inches. After that it ashed at about 1 inch every time, usually when I was setting it back in the ash tray; never fell off unexpectedly though. The color of the ash was a mottled-white. Not beautiful, but it didn't detract from the cigar. And the smoke volume was spot on, exactly the amount needed from each draw. The ash falling so frequently is the only thing that detracted from this category.

Construction: 27 Points of 30 Possible

The wrapper, as I mentioned above, looks dry and thin but never cracked or chipped. There are few veins in the wrapper and it's caramel color is attractive. The cap held up perfectly to the cut. The head is kind of fragile and wouldn't hold up well to extensive chewing. The draw is perfect, not too loose and not too tight. This cigar is well-rolled.

Flavor and Aroma: 35 Points of 45 Possible

This cigar really blew me away in the flavor department. I wasn't expecting much because to all outward appearances it didn't impress me. However, WOW, this cigar is tasty. I would award it bonus points in this category if I could. The initial puffs are of mocha, a sweet coffee/chocolate flavor. The aroma is that of sweet nuts. As you progress into the smoke the sweet nuts and some toasted cedar begin to replace the coffee. They dance in and out, but it is predominantly sweet, buttery nuts. Like the sweet cashews I mentioned before. The transitions are very well done and easy to notice, but the flavors stay smooth and never overpower one another. The cigar finishes out with coffee, as if it's bringing the cigar full circle. Overall I would say the strength was at medium.

Summary

This cigar is very dry in the throat, but incredibly tasty. I didn't expect much out of this, seeing as how I had never heard of the brand. When I first got it the looks didn't blow me away, but I tried to stay optimistic. After smoking it, I can honestly say I misjudged this book by it's cover. I would definitely smoke one of these again, as the flavors were delicious. I feel that if enjoyed with a sweet coffee the flavors of this cigar would really explode.  I will be looking to pick these up sometime in the near future.
