"Sin Compromiso" is Spanish for "Without Compromise". Crafted by the legendary Steve Saka, Sin Compromiso represents the pinnacle of his boutique venture, Dunbarton Tobacco and Trust. Praised by cigar aficionados and blogs alike, this masterpiece features a flawless Mexican San Andres wrapper, an Ecuadorian binder, and rich Nicaraguan long-fillers. "When creating and blending Sin Compromiso I was never satisfied with the robusto vitola," said Saka, in a post on his Facebook page when the cigar was announced. "It always seemed a little off so when we launched the brand in 2019 I decided to just not include arguably the most popular format. (This is) a 5.00 x 54 prensado robusto whose blend is now perfectly tailored for its format and to suit its namesake."
Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sin Compromiso Seleccion No. 4
Very nice looking cigar with no veins and a slight oily sheen. Smooth cigar with a mild vanilla and tobacco aroma with some earth. Cut perfect with my Xikar straight cut. Nice box press. Beautiful presentation with the cedar foot wrap.
Lighting and Burn: 14 Points of 15 Possible
Burn was nice and even with the ash hanging on in one inch plus increments until tapped off. Ash is a medium gray and fairly solid. Burn rate is typical an only had 1 relight needed due to myself talking a bit too long in between a few puffs. Smoke volume is adequate.
Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible
Very nice draw with the correct amount of resistance for my liking. Wrapper is flawless as with most Dunbartons I have enjoyed in the past. Cap was applied perfectly and took a straight cut very well with zero issues.
Flavor and Aroma: 43 Points of 45 Possible
1/3; starts off with some cocoa, spice and a hint of a sweet earthy flavor
2/3; second third is more of the same with a little more cocoa and still burning great, still some nice hints of spice.
3/3 Cigar finished very nice with just the one relight due to my lack of attention.
Summary
Overall good cigar, would definitely smoke again given the opportunity. Thanks much for allowing me in on this critique. Cigar is a bit pricey for a daily smoke but a nice treat on occasion. Typical Dunbarton quality and great flavors throughout.
