Pre-Light: 17 Points of 10 Possible

This particular cigar has the traditional coloring of the colorado maduro...a bit too natural but otherwise nice looking as it is fairly smooth with no prominent veins.  Easy to cut and fairly hard with no soft spots at all.  The pre-light aroma is of light tobacco.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

I found the burn pretty decent with only a couple of touch ups required and the ash was fairly solid but not compact.  There is considerable smoke which is something I like and don't have to "work" to get a good volume going.  The ash is light with some dark areas but overall a nice white coloring.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

The draw was more than acceptable and allowed me to draw in as much as I wanted to or as little as I wanted.  The wrapper had just a slight tear to it but I used the band to cover it so it never was a problem, and the cap was very good too.

Flavor and Aroma: 23 Points of 45 Possible

Everything up to this point suggests a cigar that should be better than what I gave it but I have to be true to the flavor and aroma of this cigar.  This is not a complex cigar and reminds me of the Nub Cigar as it is very straightforward tobacco with some slight taste of nut and light coffee.  What stands out more than anything is the 'dry' taste to it and borderline harshness which is something I find unthinkable in any cigar no matter what brand.  If it wasn't for the drink I had this would have had me running for a drink because of the constant dryness.  I did not detect any major change in the progression of this cigar as it held small pockets of wood and nut but overall it was a dry tobacco taste.

Summary

I waited until the last possible time limit on this cigar only because I wanted to give it as much of a chance as possible to get through any 'sick' period.  I didn't taste any ammonia so the time spent in the humidor should have been enough.  Because of the dryness factor this is a cigar I probably wouldn't buy but would smoke if given to me, and alas this was something I am reviewing.
