Pre-Light: 18 Points of 10 Possible

An attractive cigar with some minor veining.  Medium brown wrapper with an artsy band.  Cigar is neither oily nor dry.  The cap is well done.  Prelight aroma is quality tobacco with just a hint of barnyard.

Lighting and Burn: 14 Points of 15 Possible

I lit this cigar with a single torch.  The cigar lit easily and burned straight.  No relights were required.  Ash held well over an inch before I tapped it off.  The cigar produced lots of tasty smoke.  No issues with lighting or burn.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

A quality made cigar.  The wrapper could have been smoother, but I like to see some veins--it provides a more natural look. The cap was expertly applied.  Cigar performed well--no constuction flaws were noted.

Flavor and Aroma: 27 Points of 45 Possible

This cigar started off good--smooth and rich with cedar and vanilla notes up front some nuttiness on the retrohale.  The flavor stayed pretty consistent from start to finish, except at about the 1/2 way point it got bitter for a few draws.  After the bitterness faded, it was good again until near the end, where it got bitter again.  At first I thought the bitterness may have been brought on by my drink choice (Captain Morgan and Coke), so I smoked another of this frontmark a couple days later paired with water.  Still had the same bitterness issues in the same places.  Other than those two bitter spots, it was all good.  Room note was quite good overall.

Summary

I was a bit disappointed with this cigar.  I smoked two of them to see if the flavor was consistent, and it was (even though one was 6-8 months older than the other one).  This is a pretty good cigar, but I prefer EO's Cubao and 601 series over the Mi Barrio.
