This cigar was enjoyed with Diet Cola

Pre-Light: 18 Points of 10 Possible

The presmell is very nice, not great, but appealing. The wrapper is beautiful and appears very well rolled. The level of firmness is ideal for my standards. The cutting was uneventful. The label is cute.

Lighting and Burn: 12 Points of 15 Possible

The burn was just right and I got lost in the smoking and looked down suddenly in the middle a saw the beginning of a tunnel or run which I aborted with a flame. From there on it was smooth sailing. The ash was solid and whitish-gray. I tapped it after an inch and a half so I wouldn't be distracted by it. The smoke volume was good.

Construction: 26 Points of 30 Possible

The cigar is beautiful thanks to the wrapper and rolling of it. I had forgotten that the wrapper was a Sumatra and honestly thought I was smoking a maduro. The draw was clear and the cap was strong enough for me to chew and percolate some juices. In retrospect the need to correct the burn in the middle feels like a fluke that didn't harm the experience.

Flavor and Aroma: 29 Points of 45 Possible

The flavor profile changed drastically in each third, improving all the way. I was disappointed at first by the odd flavor with just a bitter, earthy background and little else. No complexity. The second third found me adjusting and beginning to like the flavor, which had mellowed. After the midsmoke burn correction, the flavor seemed to improve fast and I began noticing some complexity. The final third was heaven with great taste and nice complexity compounded with nice juices from the wet cap.

Summary

The Bard said "all's well that ends well" and my memories remain fondly on the last third. Nevertheless, I'm here to judge and make sense out of the whole smoke.
I would certainly smoke it again and also try the other wrapper. That's the gold standard for me: wanting another.
