This cigar was enjoyed with Bud Light

Pre-Light: 18 Points of 10 Possible

This is a nice looking cigar but nothing remarkable.  It was fairly smooth with some slight veins.  It was solid to the touch all the way through and packed evenly.  A nice triple cap.  The stick had a slight hay smell to it, which was nice but didn't give me that "I can't wait to smoke this feeling."

Lighting and Burn: 14 Points of 15 Possible

The burn on this cigar was solid.  I toasted the foot and it lit up easily.  I purposely started a bit uneven and it self corrected.  The burn wasn't razor sharp but was slightly uneven, within a few centimeters throughtout the smoke.  It did give out generous amounts of smoke and had a salt and pepper ash that held pretty firm.  No relights or touchups necessary.

Construction: 30 Points of 30 Possible

The draw on this was perfect and it was consistant throughtout.  The wrapper remained intact throughout.  I cut this with a scissor cut and it didn't fray at all, no loose bits of wrapper in my mouth which is a plus.  Overall I would have to say top notch constrution on this stick.

Flavor and Aroma: 24 Points of 45 Possible

The prelight draw was a little sweet and pleasant.  In the inital third I got some sweetness and a little spice.  There were also some hints of leather.  This was a bit of a tease as I was expecting the intensity of the flavors to pick up and blend with the sweetness.  In the second third, the sweetness subsided and kind of faded into the background.  The primary flavor was a rich earthy taste which, at its best, blended with the sweetness to create a really pleasant flavor.  The spice taste pretty much went away entirely with the dominate earthy taste taking over.  At it's best this earthy taste was blended with some sweet leather flavors that created a good balance.  But there was little consistency in this flavor, it sometimes seemed that it would alternate with each draw.  The final third was dominated by the rich earthy taste and any sweetness became hard to detect and the leather went away entirely.  I smoked to the nub.

Summary

I was really looking forward to this cigar because I am a fan of the regular Aroma De Cuba line.  In the end I feel this cigar never quite reached its full potential.  I feel that I know what the cigar maker was going for in trying to create a blend of sweetness and spicy balanced with a rich earthy flavor, but these flavors rarely came into balance.  When they did it was very satifying, but mostly it was a bit of a tease.  Overall this is an above average cigar, even on their own the flavors were good but I felt like I wanted a bit more out of this cigar and I didn't get it.  I would smoke one again without hesitation but I feel it was somewhat of a miss in terms of creating a superior cigar.
