This cigar was enjoyed with Black Coffee

Pre-Light: 18 Points of 10 Possible

Visually, this cigar had a couple of larger veins and a little lumpiness, giving it a rustic look.  It had a little sheen and gave off a slightly oily moistness.  The predraw was easy, with earthy flavors.

Lighting and Burn: 14 Points of 15 Possible

This cigar lighted and burned easily and evenly.  It did not require any touch ups or relights.  The draw was comfortable and consistent throughout the cigar. The smoke was always cool in the mouth, and smoke volume was near perfect.  It held the ash well, easily to over one inch.

Construction: 25 Points of 30 Possible

Visually, this cigar looked to have nice tight construction, although a couple of larger veins and a little lumpiness gave it a rustic look.  The wrapper was consistent in color and shape.  When held, the cigar felt firm, with just a little give when pinched.  The tip of this torpedo clipped smoothly and easily.  Upon smoking the tip got a little soft.  A slight deduction was made for the larger veins.

Flavor and Aroma: 30 Points of 45 Possible

This cigar had a pleasant, distinctive taste.  The flavor was smooth, rich, and creamy, with a hint of earthiness.  As the smoke progressed, I detected some complexity with the entry of leather flavors.  Overall, I would consider it medium in strength.  It never was bitter or harsh, and I smoked it to the nub, as I do with most cigars.

Summary

I found the construction to be a little below what I usually experience with Rocky Patel (i.e. exceptional).  Specifically, the roll was a little loose, resulting in the tip being a little soft.
However, I really enjoyed the flavor of the cigar.  It was very smooth and definitely in the top third of RP products I have smoked.  It would be between a 4 and 4.5 on our usual CG rating scale.  Overall, I liked the taste and smoking characteristics and would definitely smoke again!
