This cigar was enjoyed with Water/Coffee

Pre-Light: 17 Points of 10 Possible

A very nice slightly oily stick with some slight veins and one large one that makes the stick look slightly "lumpy".  Overall though a nice appearance to the stick. No soft spots and has a nice uniform color with a good heft in the hand. All in all a nice looking/feeling stick. Has a pleasant "sweet" tobacco smell to it which I find enjoyable.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

Burn was solid with no need for relights, a little bit of correction was needed because of the one larger vein caused it to burn a bit oddly but nothing major. Lots of smoke was produced as I would expect from a smoke of this ring gauge. The smoke has a nice light gray/whitish ash.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

I had no issues with the cap and it cut cleanly. Draw was smooth and easy but not too easy (had some resistance which I prefer) and pulled a nice volume of smoke with each puff. Wrapper was solid and didn't come loose at any point which I was a bit concerned about because of the larger vein.

Flavor and Aroma: 30 Points of 45 Possible

The smoke started off a bit spicy (not peppery), yet still slightly sweet. It maintained this sweetness throughout but it wasn't unpleasant like a flavored cigar might be. After a third or so turned more peppery but remains slightly sweet. Over all this is a smooth/sweet medium cigar which was right in my wheel house quite surprisingly. The sweet flavor could be considered cinnamon, something like that, but mixed with a nice tobacco and spicy woodiness.

Summary

To say I was pleasantly surprised by this cigar would be a huge understatement. For some reason I thought it would have some harness/bitterness that is often found with some of the cigars that Ive tried from some of the other "non" traditional tobacco producing countries. I am really looking forward to smoking the 2nd one and if its as good as the first I will definitely pick some of these up.
