This cigar was enjoyed with Water

Pre-Light: 19 Points of 10 Possible

A very clean looking wrapper with good looking construction on this stick.  Slighty veiny and clean seams.  It had a nice firm feel to it that seemed to show signs of a good tight roll.  Would that mean a tight draw?  We'll see. It had a nice tobacco smell pre-light as well.

What I found interesting was the band.  It looked very much like a Cuban Cohiba band - only the little dots were actually stars.

Lighting and Burn: 13 Points of 15 Possible

It lit pretty easily, a few puffs and it was off an running.  It started out a bit uneven at first light, but corrected pretty quickly.  Burn was fairly even in the long run.  It went throughout the entire smoke with no major issues.  Cap held together very well.

Construction: 28 Points of 30 Possible

Draw was fine and stayed that way through the duration.  Cap seemed to be constructed well.  It seemed to get a bit soft towards the last third as it loosened up, but nothing to complain about.  Wrapper was very clean - no tears, rips, or coming apart throughout the smoke.  It held together very well.

Flavor and Aroma: 25 Points of 45 Possible

It started out with an obvious sweet taste on the cap.  This was a bit of a turn-off as I do not like flavored cigars.  This wore off at about the half way point and I could really have the real taste of the cigar.  I think i'd really like to try this blend without the sweetness in the cap.

It really had a good flavor with a nice smooth tobacco taste with hints of sweetness.  Some woody or earthy flavors came through after the sweetness subsided.  As it progressed towards the last third it really had an enjoyable smooth creamy leathery taste with hints of a cocoa sweetness.  Not terribly complex, but did change up a bit throughout the smoke.  I did have to take a few points off for the infused sweet cap, but that's just me.

Summary

In general I found this cigar to be enjoyable.  I think it could have ranked a bit higher if it didn't have the sugary sweet cap that lasted nearly half-way through the smoke.  This had very little aging on it and I would love to try it with a little more time.  I think it has a real potential to be even better as it developes more in the humidor.
