The Edward Sahakian Cigar Shop at the Bulgari Hotel (London, United Kingdom)      Submitted by Hapcigar 01/29/2013 09:20 PM
This is a one of a kind shop.  Every cigar sold is sourced exclusively from Edward Sahakian's personal collection taken from the private humidified keeps at St. James's.

The sampling lounge is top quality with a state of art air purifier.   Food and beverages are supplied by the food service of the Bulgari Hotel which means it is of the highest quality.

This is not a everyday experience but it is the place to go for that special occasion or entertaining clients.

Tiny little cigar and tobacco shop in Covent Garden. Small selection of CC's. Very helpful when I was there as a tourist and knew absolutely nothing about Cubans at the time. (Left with a PSD4 and some Bolivars)

This shop specializes only on Cuban cigars.  There is a focus on aged Cuban cigars.  The shop is small but jammed pack with character.  The sales staff is very knowledgeable about all things Cuban.  The accessory selection is limited but unique.  There are three chairs available to those customers who wish to "sample" the cigars they purchased and a cup of Cuban coffee is offered.  Winston Churchill ( Yes, that guy again) lived above the shop when he returned to London after his time in Cuba.  The shop hold tribute to him because of this fact.

So much to say about this establishment.  Cigars, pipes, tobacco, and accessories are sold on the ground level.  If you purchase a cigar, you are allowed to "sample" it and the second floor has a lounge where you can have a cup of coffee or water.  The are plenty of magazines and books to read while you sample.  Although if there are others sampling cigars, you will be chatting instead of reading.  Restrooms are located on the second floor.

The basement is the unique part of this establishment.  It is here where you will enter a cigar museum.  It is not very big but it has a number of unique items.  Winston Churchill's last cigars, invoices of famous UK cigar lovers purchases and other historical connections between cigars and the UK.  Admission is free but donations are requested.

The walk-in humidor is large with a solid collection of Cuban and non-Cuban cigars.  Most of the sales staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. (There is one gent who could use sales training)

There is a good selection of cigar accessories (lighters, cutters, humidors, etc).  Plus pipes, tobacco and such.

UK VAT and taxes on cigars is extreme therefore prices are high and still a visit to this shop is worth it.

Dunhill is a high end men's chothier which has a humidor in it London house.  At the Mayfair location, one can buy a bespoke suit, get a haircut, massage, lunch and a cigar.  The humidor is small but well stocked with Cuban cigars.  The sales staff is knowledgeable and friendly.  There is a lounge for "sampling" as well as an outdoor dining area where cigar sampling is not only allowed but encouraged.  There is a small dining kitchen that has limited but very good selection.  Therefore you can have a meal and drink while sampling.  This place is very expensive but well worth the visit.

The high end of high end cigar shops.  The walk-in humidor is large and well stocked with both Cuban and non-Cuban cigars.  It is the accessories that are the real find.  Expensive yes, but these are the gifts that cigar geeks seek.  The sales staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

Alfie Turmeaus Tobacconist (London, United Kingdom)      Submitted by Hapcigar 07/22/2012 05:56 PM
This shop is a hard find.  The Shepherd Market area is hidden behind Hyde Park but it is a nice area with a flavor of old London.

The shop is small but has a good selection of Cuban and non-Cuban cigars plus other tobacco offerrings.

The cigar lounge is located in the basement.  It is rather cozy but has a air cleaner to handle the cigar smoke from overcoming the area.  Coffee, water and fine spirits are available.

1a St. James's Cigar shap & Sampling lounge (London, United Kingdom)      Submitted by Hapcigar 12/04/2012 11:36 AM
There is a varied but limited offering of cigar.  Price are on par with other cigar shops in the area.  The real jewel is the sampling lounge.  This modern and well ventilated room is a great place to sample cigars and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
