Well folks i'm happy to report that Apple and I have finally worked through the approval process to get the Cigar Geeks iPhone/iPad app out in the iTunes store! :dancing:
It's been a long process and took some going back and forth but we are there. Here's the iTunes link:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/cigar-geeks-application/id476494257?ls=1&mt=8
I have decided to set the price at $3.99. This app will synchronize your humidor items and the Cigar database with your iPhone, so it puts a pretty good strain on the web site server. As more users purchase the app the procedes from the app will need to go to funding more server resources.
Here's the blurb from the iTunes store:
The Cigar Geeks application is for the cigar enthusiast who is interested in furthering their cigar hobby. It comes pre-loaded with a searchable database of over 31,000 cigars and over 16,000 cigar reviews. The app can download the latest Cigars and Reviews from the Cigar Geeks web site as they are updated.
You can also track multiple humidors and inventories along with tasting notes, quantities, ages, and prices. The app will synchronize your virtual humidors with the Cigar Geeks web site as well. You can maintain your humidors in either the app or web site and synchronize the two.
If you are interested in having a quick and easy to use reference to help with future cigar purchases or want to be able to track your purchases in your various humidors then you will find this a very useful tool.
If you desire to give back to the community you can also submit your own cigar reviews through the app and they will appear on the web site under your account.
In order to submit reviews or track your humidors online a free Cigar Geeks web site login is required.

Good stuff. Should be interesting.
Sounds great can't wait for the Android one
Android would be great.
Another for the Android
Congratulations. Nice Job. Seems like a deal for $3.99. Makes me wish I had an iPad.
I don't have that kind of technology but it sounds like it might be a nice thing to play with.
Good Job Paul!
A thanks again for all you do to keep our geekdom running!!!
Congrats Paul on accomplishing this huge task. :bigthumbs:
I have an iPhone... yeah me! :dancing:
Edit:
The App has been downloaded.
The sync for the humi was easy. Everything is functioning very well, and it's easy to navigate. Job well done Paul.

Bows out quietly for the sake of CG peace. I'll happily wait for the Android version.
Pity you poor droid fools. I got mine! :dancing:
You did a great job Paul. Easy dl/install, easy to use. The humi synch was pretty fast, considering all it had to bring down. It has motivated me to organize my online humi(s) to match the physical ones ... a task long overdue. the link to the web site was a nice touch. Me likey!!!
:bigthumbs:
I am one of the lowly droid users..... :-(
Paul, from the comments from the others sounds like good work!
Thanks for the feedback guys! Don't forget to leave comments/rating on the iTunes site. I'm looking at the Android process, but it will certainly take awhile.

Great work Paul. As a "dumb phone" user, this really doesn't apply to me, but I appreciate all the work you do to keep things going around here and all of the improvements that you make.
Great job! I have an Android, but the little woman has an iPhone, so I may just have to download it so I can contribute to the cause!
Sweet! :dancing: Can't wait to download this! Thanks for all you do Paul!
Great looking app, Paul! I never had any desire to buy a smart phone before, but this may change my mind!

Goes double for me. I'm super excited to hear that we're keeping up with the times. I like keeping it old school, so I don't have one of those smart phones, but it's awesome what you're doin here. :bigthumbs:
Android here....
Thanks for keeping us up with technology, Paul.
Sweet cant wait to see the other app.
Cool app, I might have to get a Iphone or Ipad now :-)
If my count is correct there are at least 13 members on Cigar Geeks that obviously should have bought an iPhone instead of a Driod.

Hell, this may have convinced me to switch to the new iPhones 4ASS I've been hearing about. I'M FOR ASS!
Oh, and Paul, post a mention of it on the Facebook CG page. There are a lot of fans of that page that aren't really on the main site that will probably shell out the bucks when they see that it gives them access to over 16,000 reviews.
For a long time I have been meaning to set up my virtual humi to match the real ones. So this evening I grabbed my old iPod and started going through the various humis I have sequestered away through the house. Gotta say the app made it ridiculously simple to manage the online versions, and even brought some fun to the task! It was really nice being able to bring the app to where the cigars were instead of the other way around ... especially with the big humidor!
Gotta say the CG App is one of the most useful cigar accessories I have ever bought. It ranks right up there with my punch and lighter!
Thank you Paul!
:bigthumbs: :dancing:
Sweet! But I'm running android :-( maybe it won't take long for that version to come out?
Excellent App.
I have been using it on my Ipad for a few days now. Love it!
One thing... a synch does fine on the main humidor, but doesn't appear to update "previously smoked" when it has changed. Or am I doing something wrong?

Hey Rod. Sent you a PM for more details. It should definitely sync Previous Smokes.
-Paul
update to my PM reply...
Did another update and the wish list and previous smokes didn't update properly
(In fact it also added a new wish list item to the previous smokes too, but tagged wish list when I viewed it)
Then...
I just did a database update from the iPad
(because there were two cigars that I have in my inventory and also previously smoked, but new in the database)
That went fine...
Then I changed a couple of things on my online humidor
Then did a synch (update not full) from the iPad and EVERYTHING is fine!
I think that my previous problem was due to the iPad not having an up to date database, and that got its knickers in a twist.
All appears to be fine now.
Cheers
Rod
Any thoughts on putting this forum on tapatalk?

I've never heard of it before. Just looked at it and looks like an interesting idea. Right now, got too many other projects I want to get done. Maybe down the road.

You guys could help by posting more reviews on iTunes. Just log in to the iTunes application on your PC or MAC and search for the app. Near the bottom of the apps page you can leave a review.
