There seems to be an anti Thompson's vibe here on the site and I am too new to collecting so I am not sure if it is warranted or not. That being said, on http://www.thompsoncigarauctions.com/Bidding.taf?_function=detail&Auction_uid1=2522363 there is a listing for Opus X double robusto's. It's a little out of my price range but figured I'd pass it on. They had 6 boxes and the price right now is $160.
Also if there is a reason I should avoid Thompson's please let me know.

Wow, you picked up on that? I thought we were being more subtle.
:lmao:
That "T" auction still has a week to close. The price will be much higher by then. The right price to pay for these is $22/stick or less. 5'ers regularly go for $109. That seems to be the going discount on CBid Auctions lately, and I picked up two on Free Fall for $19.95 a couple months back.
Frankly, I like the regular OpusX line better.
Thanks for the heads up - noticed these when they first came up. I'm curious to see how much they sell for...
Some people here have been bashing Thompson's since I joined this site in 2008.
I bought my first humidor (which is still in use BTW), which included a sampler of assorted Thompson brand cigars from their catalog which I got from a friend many years ago.
While their prices on popular brands are usually higher than other on line sites, I've purchased some very good deals from Thompson's with no problems and, while their marketing can be annoying, it's easy to be removed from their telephone call list.
Thompson's is just an easy target for bashing. Let's face it, they've been around since 1915 ... if Thompson's was so terrible, they would've been gone long ago.
well the nerdy kid everybody hated in school graduated (he was just tolerated) ...... so you see Thompsons is just getting a sympathy sell every now and again kinda like the nerdy kid in school..... tolerated to the end.
I don't like Thompson's, but a deal is a deal, and some can be found on their Auction.
Speaking of auctions, there sure are a LOT of new Geeks around the site.
And it is way bad Joss to snipe a brothers bid. It's not prudent to piss the Gods off, lest your collection spring forth with mold, beetles and such via divine retribution.
Hey Nathan, how up to date is the handles list? Might it be time for a major refresh??
If you are new to CG and buy at auction, and have not yet read of this, here is thread I am referring to: http://www.cigargeeks.com/index.php?topic=7977.0

Been getting burned lately in the auctions Kevin? I quit them about a month ago when all the loonies started coming out for Spring cigars. Nobody seems to know their prices.

That is the most up to date list, but we have had an influx of members. I'll revive it here shortly and add as needed.
Could we make that thread sticky so it can be found without using Search? A week from now I will never find it again.

Armin, Paul made it a sticky a year ago, it is at the top of "Cigar Shops and Bars Reviews".

Nope, I haven't bought 100 cigars in the past year. Busy smoking down my box to make room for more.....
How's Bruce been?
