Title: Help ID'ing sticks
Post by: Newbhunter on 06/14/2013 03:32 PM
Hello gentlemen, I humbly request your help. I have just returned from Blatter&Blatter, a great little pipe shop in downtown montreal that also happens to be one of the best purveyors of cigars, Cuban and other. I bought a CAO as well as 4 Batey sticks. I tried to add them to my virtual humidor only to find out the Bateys ate not in the database! And of course absentminded lil me didn't bother to ask for the name of those I bought... This is where you come in, if you please!
I have put the rough dimensions as manual inputs in my virtual humidor, those of you that can take a boo at those Bateys in my VH and help I'd the name, I would appreciate immensely!
Thanks gents,
Pat

I did a google search on them and found that yes they exist, but their origins are sketchy to say the least.  One thread from another forum had two spammers in it talking about how great they are, they look like they all come in a bundle and somebody who bought some intimated that he thought they were machine rolled.  Oddly, everyone who has tried one seems to be from Canada so I'm guessing they are strictly a Canadian company.

Thanks lukin, that helps out some. I searched myself and cudnt find squat... They were in the cheap site price wise considering the stupid prices we pay up here for sticks. My grandfather always told me u get what u pay for and that has worked all my life except for cigars, some good deals come along without the price tag of a cohiba... At 4-5$ a piece, why not try em. As far as machine rolled, ain't so sure, they don't have that odd twist that machine cigars seem to normally have... Ill go back to blatter Onondaga and see if the name is on the box...

Can't find too much on them...but there are few cigars that are only distributed in Canada. At $4 they are real cheap by Canadian standards. It is a "cuban sandwich" type of filler (mixed short and long fillers). since we already have one size in the database, I will add the two others that you have in your humidor and then you can switch it over.

I'd suggest calling Blatter & Blatter and ask them about the cigars.  With that information you could a) ID the sticks already in the dB or b) add it to the dB.

BTW, interesting thread discussing Batey cigars here: http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/archive/index.php/t-47258.html

I have added all the sizes to our database. Your 4.75 x 50 is likely the Hermosos. I found a place that sells all the different sizes, although the specs on blend and dimensions is lacking.

Junglepete- thanks for the db entry, ill go to blatter on moday and get some more detailed info to ensure my contribution to the db is accurate.
To everyone else- thanks for ur help getting a bit of details on em. I figured at that price, can't be worse than the Bravos!

I'll pm you on Monday with details, if of course they have em at blatter. They specialize in handmade pipes and pipe tobacco... One guy seemed to know a bit about cigars... We'll see what they can tell me/us.

Waking up very old threads to promote your cigars might not be the best way to go about it here on CG.

Post in the commercial retailers section and tell us more about your cigars there.

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one.  These are his products that were being discussed, and Abel has openly identified himself as a manufacturer.

It is not like some of these retailers who have tried to stir up business by passing themselves off as just another cigar enthusiast who has found these hot new cigars.

Point made, I see it now. Was a little fast pulling the trigger.
