New Thread
Thanks Nathan.
Now up: Wal-Hall, in the Celtic Morta Dublin.
just smoked some DE Harvest on the Hudson in my Savenelli
I'm back in the pipe threads! I broke out the Mizzou Meer today and smoked a bowl of GL Pease Montgomery with about 5 years on it. It has gotten a bit dry, but is smoking well. I'm not usually a big fan of Virginias, but I like this one. There is a little bit of KFC in this blend as well, which adds to the flavor but is not overpowering.

Greg Pease makes excellent pipe blends! Try throwing a HumiCare Pillow in the can or jar for 3 to 10 days. There are more elaborate re-hydration methods, but that is the easiest.

Kyle, I've got one sealed tin of Paul Olsen My Own Blend No, 111 left and so I am reluctant to pop it open LOL.
You can order the 111 from Danish Pipe Shop -- with the 20% off (VAT deducted) it breaks down to about $25 per tin (but I am lousy at math) :-)

I keep all of the tobacco I have bought lately into jars and put those jars into a cooler where I keep a cup of KL in there...it is at about 70/14% and the tobacco is soooooooo good and tastes so fresh. Unlike cigars you can't keep pipe tobacco at a higher RH...so I keep dry KL in the cooler to absorb any moisture that might cause issues.

Pulled a jar of Newminster two year old #403 Superior Rounds from the cellar today. Got a deal on another one pound bag of this blend recently, so thought it was time to see how this one is aging after two years.
The #403, once given a chance to age 2-3 years, is a really good smoke -- better than the Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake, IMO ... I think it's the dark fired Kentucky in the center of the Newminster's coin (the PS LBF uses cavendish) that makes the difference.
Good stuff and a great value for the $$.
Not today but yesterday I had a nice bowl of SG FVF
Smoking for the first time, Drew Estates Meat Pie in my brand new Brian Doran Stubby Poker.
Some McClellland Craftsbury Series: Frog Morton after lunch today -- in an Astley poker.

“Navigator, the sixth blend to join the Old London Series, has been created specifically for the fancier of fuller-bodied, but still well-balanced and sophisticated flakes. The addition of a bit of dark-fired leaf brings depth and complexity to the party, a touch of rum makes the red and bright flue-cured tobaccos dance, enhancing their natural fruitiness and polishing the edges. The pressing and aging in cakes brings it all together into seamless harmony.”

i like Frog Morton Cellar. i buy it and put it up. it’s like desert after a meal.
yeah man! cellar is my next purchase. Cant wait to try it.
if you like it you may also like G. L. Pease Barbary Coast. FYI many blends may be/are going away due to the FDA (unless something changes) if it was made after 2007. so if you find something you can't live w/o i suggest you stock up.

Stonehenge is a wonderful traditional flake comprised of bright flue-cured and sun-cured leaf from Brazil, Zimbabwe and Malawi, with just a touch of Burley added for a bit of body, and a slightly fuller flavor. Then, we added a good measure of perique for its unique contribution. Once blended, the leaf is steamed, hot-pressed into blocks and aged, allowing the flavors to further ferment and integrate. The mature blocks are sliced into thin flakes, and cut into 2" lengths.

On toby2's recommendation when I asked about full Virginia's he recommended GL Pease union square. I smoked it out of a cob reason being my fear of screwing it up and overheating my pipe, constant re lights and burning too hot. Glad to say I lit it up and never needed my lighter again. Easily the very best smoke I've had so far. Thanx Toby great advice my friend. I'm definitely a Virginia fan
