I'm back in the pipe threads!   I broke out the Mizzou Meer today and smoked a bowl of GL Pease Montgomery with about 5 years on it.  It has gotten a bit dry, but is smoking well. I'm not usually a big fan of Virginias, but I like this one.  There is a little bit of KFC in this blend as well, which adds to the flavor but is not overpowering.

Greg Pease makes excellent pipe blends!  Try throwing a HumiCare Pillow in the can or jar for 3 to 10 days.  There are more elaborate re-hydration methods, but that is the easiest.

I'm smoking some Cornell & Diehl 5 O'Clock Shadow in a Taylor-Ashton Old Church XXX apple.

Smoking some Paul Olsen My Own Blend 111 in an Omar King Billiard. One of my favorite Vaper tobaccos, just too bad it isn't available in the US anymore.

Wish I could find a reliable source to get some more.

Kyle, I've got one sealed tin of Paul Olsen My Own Blend No, 111 left and so I am reluctant to pop it open LOL.

You can order the 111 from Danish Pipe Shop -- with the 20% off (VAT deducted) it breaks down to about $25 per tin (but I am lousy at math)  :-)

I keep all of the tobacco I have bought lately into jars and put those jars into a cooler where I keep a cup of KL in there...it is at about 70/14% and the tobacco is soooooooo good and tastes so fresh.  Unlike cigars you can't keep pipe tobacco at a higher RH...so I keep dry KL in the cooler to absorb any moisture that might cause issues.

Limerick is a standby in my cellar.

Limerick is offered in 50 gram tins and one pound mylar bags, but this blend can be hard to find in stock.

I got my pounders at SmokingPipes, but I see they're currently out of stock.  Pipes & Cigars, however, has the one pound bags of Limerick in stock right now and Iwan Ries has the 50 gram Limerick tins available.

This C&D Briar Fox was recommended to me some time ago and it went from my bucket list to the "lets buy now" with this last order.

This is my second bowl of Briar Fox and I must say,it's pretty damn good.  A plug of sorts -- similar in composition to C&D's Working Man Series: 5 O'Clock Shadow.

Let's just say, I'm pleased I got 8 ounces of this.

Thumbs up.  Enjoying it in a Dunhill Root Briar EK billiard tonight.

Pulled a jar of Newminster two year old #403 Superior Rounds from the cellar today. Got a deal on another one pound bag of this blend recently, so thought it was time to see how this one is aging after two years.

The #403, once given a chance to age 2-3 years, is a really good smoke -- better than the Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake, IMO ... I think it's the dark fired Kentucky in the center of the Newminster's coin (the PS LBF uses cavendish) that makes the difference.

Good stuff and a great value for the $$.

been smoking MacB Mature Virginia and G. L. Pease Hado's Delight a bunch as always. and many more GLP blends i like. haven't been into Latakia lately at all despite having pounds of the stuff squirreled away although i did run out of Frog Morton Cellar it's so good after dinner with touch of drink and a splash of water. C&D Exhausted Rooster is up next for the evening in a large Pete POY 2007. i love the pipe and the blend. i rarely have time for a long smoke so it will be a treat. my little pocket/outdoor pipes are the work horses of the rotation and they are easy on my poor jaw as well.

Second meeting of the Hastings Pipe Club last night. Featured tobacco was Peterson Holiday Season 2016, had in my Stanwell B&W 409 Sandblast

Also had a second bowl, Cornell & Diehl Autumn Evening (fast becoming one of my very favorites) in an MM Diplomat 5th Ave Bent.

Sliced sopressata, home-baked pretzels, cheese sauce, and winter porters on the side.

Butternut Burley from Kent.  I'm diggin this stuff right now.  I think I might be an aromatic guy.  Never thought that would be the case, but its weird.... THIS and the Lane 1Q are closer to cigar taste than the others I have smoked.  Guess the creaminess instead of the smokiness?  I like the others also, but this stuff is pretty awesome!

Finally tried the last sample from Kent.  On vacation and it's raining off and on, so I snuck outside and smoked whatever "walnut" was you sent me.  Was the coolest and easiest burning bowl I've had yet!  Never got the least bit hot, but also never had to relight (which I guess would help keep it cool now that I think about it).  So to sum it up... I liked everything you sent me, Kent.  Thanks!

“Navigator, the sixth blend to join the Old London Series, has been created specifically for the fancier of fuller-bodied, but still well-balanced and sophisticated flakes. The addition of a bit of dark-fired leaf brings depth and complexity to the party, a touch of rum makes the red and bright flue-cured tobaccos dance, enhancing their natural fruitiness and polishing the edges. The pressing and aging in cakes brings it all together into seamless harmony.”

cut and paste took the font. i think it has a little burley and kentucky dark fired.

Stonehenge is a wonderful traditional flake comprised of bright flue-cured and sun-cured leaf from Brazil, Zimbabwe and Malawi, with just a touch of Burley added for a bit of body, and a slightly fuller flavor. Then, we added a good measure of perique for its unique contribution. Once blended, the leaf is steamed, hot-pressed into blocks and aged, allowing the flavors to further ferment and integrate. The mature blocks are sliced into thin flakes, and cut into 2" lengths.

I smoked it out of a cob reason being my fear of screwing it up and overheating my pipe, constant re lights and burning too hot. Glad to say I lit it up and never needed my lighter again.
