Title: Google Herf - How To
Post by: nwb on 01/10/2014 06:12 AM
What is it?
A very simple definition of "herf" is a gathering of cigar smokers.  In this case, fellow CigarGeeks join via live feed using Google+ Hangouts.

What do you need?
At the very least, you need a device with a microphone for voice input so people can hear you.  However, it is best to have a device with a webcam so people can both see and hear you.

In addition, you have to sign up for a Google account.  It is an easy process, and free.  You can do so here:

Once you have a Google account, I'd recommend browsing this site to get familiar with Google+ layout:

Google Hangouts
At this point, you can go to the following site.  This will require you to login using your Google account.  You can then update your profile, find friends, create hangouts, and start video parties.

This is all you need to join a Google Hangout.

If there is a link posted on the CigarGeeks website for a Hangout already in session, you should be able to click the link and join the video chat. However, if you would like to initiate the video hangout, click the Create Video Party on the lower, right hand of the screen as seen below:
