Hmmm...does this incidate that the home page may soon be cleared of bombing debris so that more interesting things may be attached thereto?

Sure would be nice if the recipients of gifts could restrict themselves to crowing about their acquisitions and expressing their profuse thanks to the sender in such a thread as this...but I'm not holding my breath!

IMHO, the individual threads aren't usually a problem, but from time to time, we have 2-3 members launch carpet bombs that all coincide.  That is the only time it gets to be a bit much on the homepage.  With that being said, I don't want to keep folks from showing thanks, and I definitely don't want to curb the generosity of the folks that are doing the bombing.

So, this thread is here for those that want to use it.

Ken you're getting close to sounding like a crumudgeon again  But I agree, the homepage was getting pretty congested.

Not a bomb, but I don't want to clog the home page.  While I was in Atlanta Adam (bewaredapenguin)hit me with his end of the Blackhawks/Wild bet!  He hit me good!

Sammy (sauraspop) hit me as well with this fine bomb containing a couple that I've had on my wishlist for some time. Unfortunately the Joya was damaged in transit but I think it can still be smoked.  :thanx: for your generous gift.

Atleast they are posting cigar related material and not useless crap that some people post after hours of scouring the web...last time I checked this was Cigar Geeks. I honestly find it annoying to find threads, not all but most, that are non-cigar related and a link to an often useless tidbit. Just my two cents... :-)

Hate the Joya was damaged & hope you can salvage some of it. From your wish list I can tell you like lancero's. Corona's, lancero & especially corona gorda'a my favorite. The Los Blancos has about a year in my humi, should be good to go with month or so rest.

Well here's an easy fix:  Don't read those threads!  There's a link on the top of the forum list titled "New Posts Since Last Visit".  Click that and then only read the posts under the forums that interest you.  This is a community of people with diverse interests, stories to tell and many friends made over the years.  We share our interests, we share our joys, we share our worries, we support one another, we celebrate each other's accomplishments and we generally tolerate the differences we have with other members.  Oh yeah, and all this has put us together as a community because of our common love of the leaf, so we have discussions about cigar/pipe related sometimes, too!

There are plenty of cigar forums out there that have much tighter structure and stricter forum rules.  They appear to be "educational", but don't seem like much fun. But there will always be people that those type of forums appeal to.

Very true Bruce and that takes us back to the point that who gives a crap if someone posts a seperate thread for bombing acknowledgements...if you don't want to view it then don't!  That was my point...guess that was lost in translation somewhere.

Actually I do, probably more than I'll get around to enjoy before I'm to the promised land. My bride don't smoke em, neither do my two sons. Figure I get rid of some so that I can consecrate on the ones I enjoy the most, and let a few of those new to cigars have a chance to sample something they haven't had, find out what they like & don't. Tired of pissing folks off, maybe make a a few folks happy.

Nicely done Jared, that's a sweet bomb. Is the one on the far right an MJ12?

Jared (TheBurnWard) generously sent me these sticks.  Very nice bomb.   I've not had any and look forward to trying each of them.  Thanks a lot Jared!

I was a bit nervous upon seeing the box, but the cigars are in perfect shape.

What did your people do to that box? Glad I put extra bubble wrap and they weren't damaged.

We throw packages (yes, throw) into steel bins.  If one is at the bottom, there can be a bit of weight sitting on them.   Or if they go into these fabric bags, sometimes other equipment can run into them.  One plus, if you send cigars priority mail, they have $50 insurance on them.   If any had been damaged, I would have made a claim

That is a positive. I'm always worried about LE/HTF stuff that is priceless though.

They are all new to me, and I think I hear hear each and every one of them faintly screaming (in lightly accented English), "Smoke Me First!"

Thanks, Brother - these promise to be a real pleasure.

I got home late last night and the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Vice Commander of Mailbox Safety for the 23rd District Eastern Appalachian Operations of the United States Post Office, Chuck (aka cfickter) had sent me a letter inside a box containing some cigars (very nice ones I might add) an a nice book "The Cigar from Soil to the Soul". The letter insisted that I cease and desist using the USPO for in future "bombings" that I think are appropriate. I don't think I'll take his advise on the bombings but I sure appreciate his generosity for the cigars and book. I intend to put them up in smoke in the near future while reading the book. I might even retaliate!  :thanx:

Toby2 decided that since I was looking for some Illusione Rothchildes in trade he would take it upon himself to see that I got some.

There were 5 Rothchildes but, I used one to attempt to bribe the worker's comp/liability insurance auditor that came to audit me today since he arrived at the same time as the mail...

Not sure it worked since he found an extra $3000 worth of uncovered payroll expenses to bill me for..... :-0

Sure do appreciate the bomb brother but, watch your back!

Got hit by a Hunter. Says he's a newb but I'm doubting that more and more.

Pat (Newbhunter) bombed me some very nice sticks. There are some that I have never even heard of and I like to try new stuff so that is great. Can't wait to try them all.

He even sent an unbanded stick for a blind taste test, I'll smoke that one 1st 'cause it smells excellent.

Heartwarming gesture that acted as a picker upper for me and I just happened to need it badly.

Thanks brother, your generosity is appreciated.

Speaking of Loren, let me tell you a thing or two you guys should know about him.

The DogMan wrote me a couple of weeks ago, saying he saw a great deal on a box of cigar he knows I like. Since it's not always easy being a Canadian AND a cigar geek, Loren proposes to buy the box for me and then ship it here while I PP him the $.  I more than happily accept, he orders, pays, receives and then ships to me. He even goes as far as including this mini bomb as a protector of my precious L'Atelier sticks.

I told the guy to take a few stick in my box to try them out but he would not break the seal, saying it was too pretty to be opened.

I've been dealing with him for a while now and he never ceases to amaze me. Thanks brother, truly appreciated.  Just goes to show how generous the geeks can be.

Well just a word of warning to all geeks don't go to war with this man, you'll only end up having to buy mailboxes by the case, or in my situation doors cuz my mailbox is a slot in my front door! A few weeks back he said he'd send something over and if i like it then send something back. Well of course i liked so i sent something back, to which he responded he was quite happy as well since he wasnt so well versed in isom. So i then told him illsend something down and he could send something back if he liked, well he really loved it cause he sent this... Crazy nice hit, some fantastic sticks!  Thanks again Loren its very much appreciated. (hope attaching pic worked with this edit).

I'm acknowledging this as a bomb, as Mark from Tower Cigars hooked me up with an AWESOME sampler of the new Caldwell Cigars stuff with an order I placed.  Since this was far more than just a throw in, I wanted to thank him for the generosity.

Wow!  Out of a clear blue sky a bomb from Ted drops into my mailbox.  My very first!  I am no longer a virgin.  :)

Thanks so much, Ted.  I was actually having a bit of crappy day at work, doing my best to work on my attitude but not doing a great job, and then this.  Put a BIG smile on my face.  Can't wait to give them a try.

I want to smoke it but now that I know how hard they are to come by I'll have to think about an occasion worthy of it.  Also probably wouldn't hurt to give my palate a few more months to develop. But it'll be hard to wait TOO long.  We shall see!

Hit me up in late October/ early November, and I will be happy to pick some for you.  I will be there the weekend of the 7th-9th of November for Big Smoke.

Be warned, they run somewhere in the $18-$28 range apiece, and the Phantom is usually only available as part of the gift set.

Forgot to check my mail yesterday unfortunately. Checked today and quite unexpectedly found this bomb from johncw waiting for me.

Thanks a lot for these John. I've had (and enjoyed) a few of these and have been looking to try a couple as well.

Panacea Green
5 Vegas Series A
La Riqueza
San Lotano the Bull
H. Upmann Reserve

Upload failed. Most likely this forum runs on windows 2003 which by default only allows attachments smaller than 200kb.
This can be solved by editing the metabase.xml on the server. Modify the AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed value to the desired value.

200kb? how do you even make a file that small?

I use faststone photo resizer  You have to get the  photos to below 100kb.

Or you can just upload them to a free hosting site like picturetrail.com or photobucket.com... Then it's not a bid hassle, you get perfect quality and you can edit the photo size in the drop down window before you insert it into a post.

 Nice hits there Troy! :bigthumbs:

Brad (Vroomp) hit me today as well. Thanks so much, got to love those #9's and I did not have any more. I was also damn near drooling over those pics of the Avant Garde's going around so thanks for that as well. A Viaje Zombie Antidote and two Santiago's round out the fiver. Thanks again brother.

Nice set of smokes, well done Daniel.

It might be my older eyes or just the pic but I can't help asking, Kent, are you certain that unbanded one is a super shot. Seems light in color and from the angle, looks as if it's a chisel. I'm most probably just making a fool of myself but I had to say it.

Tried to pick something you didn't have yet.  The partagas are strong, I really like the one I smoked already.

Just and idea on age, the Noches I just got, Oliva is from 07/2013, Partagas is from 05/2014, and CAO is from 11/2013.  The Gurkhas are strange but good when you have 5 minutes to pound down a smoke.

Porch is is shambles, wife is angry the dogs got loose, and I am still picking up the pieces. Vroomp bombed my mail box! Talk about gernerous act of kindness. It was quite a nice way to end a rough work week by getting a great selection of cigars. I haven't had anyone of these yet, so they will all be great additions to my cigar journal. Thanks a ton, and if anyone sees two shih tzu's running the streets let me know. The bomb blew my front door off!

Brad (Vroomp) showed a picture of some My Father Special S's that he had bought not too long ago. I made mention that if he was interested in trading some off to let me know. Well, little did I expect that he would bomb me with a box of them, along with three other fantastic sticks.

Thank you so much Brad! Obviously I wanted to try the Special S's, I have been wanting to try any of the Falto sticks, the Ashton is new to me but looks and smells great, and who could go wrong with the Dirty Rat?! Thank you again Brad! I will not forget it.

The Italian Guido hit me with an outstanding selection of Olivas, which I enjoy.

Thanks, Aaron, your gesture is greatly appreciated.             (http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r205/benchjockey/Aaron2_zps4e26c632.jpg) (http://s145.photobucket.com/user/benchjockey/media/Aaron2_zps4e26c632.jpg.html)

Really? This to me shows how varying people's palates are. I personally never had a great Oliva other than the Melanios and some MB3's... ok and the Saison too. Not sure what I'm missing when it comes to the other Olivas. :-)

Agreed - everyone has a different palate.  The recent annual releases of the Oliva V's have been fantastic.

I think the post was intended to acknowledge the kind deed by ItalianGuido versus eliciting a challenge about the quality of the gift.

Mike (StogieDad) snuck a very nice little bomb into my Secret Santa package that could have been a SS gift all of its own. Almost all of these sticks are on my wish list. Mike, I can't thank you enough brother. You REALLY out did yourself with this bomb. He also included a very nice Diamond Crown three finger cigar carrier. I have been wanting to pick up a three finger case but haven't gotten around to it, so this is very cool. Without further adieu, here is what Mike sent

Tatuaje Fausto Avion 13 Reserva

La Aroma de Cuba Limited Edition Noblesse

Tatuaje 10th Anniversary Commemorative TAA Gran Chasseur

Tennessee Waltz by Crowned Heads
