Yes, it seems like last years pass ended recently...because it did!! With that, I have decided to change up the pass a bit in format, so that it does not drag on into 2015! Since we are halfway to Christmas, I figured I would run this like the Secret Santa Pass, and assign each person a "mystery geek". Those who played last year are eligible for this one. Newcomers welcome, but you must have positive feedback and/or a quality geek vouch for you.
The Theme:
Twigs, Figs n Bigs...WHAT??? This here is the theme to the pass. You will be assigned a geek that you will send a HIGH QUALITY 5pk to, but, there must be one Twig (lancero etc.) one Fig (salomon, figurado etc.) and one Big (8" min long, and/or 58-60rg minimum)in the 5pk. The other 2 sticks are of your choosing, but make sure they are awesome! Sneaking a peak at their wish list is a great place to start. There is no need to send more than 5, but you are welcome to practice geek math if you wish. The key here is treating your fellow geek as you would like to be treated. This pass is intended to celebrate the honesty, integrity and generosity of the quality geeks that make this the ONE and ONLY social cigar site that any cigar lover needs to know about!
Last rule...DO NOT post pics until everyone has received their 5pk!!! I will put up a separate thread to post em in.

When are you estimating that we will get our names Brian? I just need to do some planning as to when I am home so I can get it out when it needs to be out. I've got a lot going on right now, and also waiting for some geeks that I would like to see play in this pass. I am aiming to randomly assign each of you a name within a week or so, and then after that, give everyone 2 weeks to line up their sticks. That would have us shipping out around the last week of August. This gives everyone a chance to come up with the goods...and this will still be over a lot shorter than the last one!

As far as I know, there are no restrictions on sending cigars to the US via Canada Post. As long as you don't send Cubans.

Yup, no worries I was just thinking of how fast it could get to the south to a geek that maybe closer but I found out from the mail office it will go air so they did say 2 weeks so I hope with no hiccups it gets there. Unfortunately there is no tracking number unless I spend 30 bucks for registration but that's a few sticks so it goes into literally the unknown. Man I do love our mail system no wonder they are doing not so well.
Nirab just wondering could I give a hint to the recipient so they don't think they are forgotten? :shy:

Yup, no worries I was just thinking of how fast it could get to the south to a geek that maybe closer but I found out from the mail office it will go air so they did say 2 weeks so I hope with no hiccups it gets there. Unfortunately there is no tracking number unless I spend 30 bucks for registration but that's a few sticks so it goes into literally the unknown. Man I do love our mail system no wonder they are doing not so well.
Nirab just wondering could I give a hint to the recipient so they don't think they are forgotten? :shy:

Mark, at this time I would say to hold off, as these are all going to arrive at different times. I am going to put a thread up to begin posting pics sometime next week. If your recipient does not get it after the 2 weeks, then let him/her know to be on the lookout for it...it's all part of the Mystery Pass!! :biggrin:

I came home late tonight and had a "LARGE" brown box on the island in the kitchen. At first I thought I may had placed an order for cigars in my sleep. Low and behold it was my end of the pass. I am overwhelmed to say the least.
I both have mine and have sent mine. I am certain my recipient has them too. However, I'm out of town until Tuesday.
My shipment out has been recieved. If my sender happens to get delivery confirmation for mine and I don't mention it till Tuesday, dont be alarmed. I am in town for the Bama game, and won't be getting mail till after the holiday. Just thought I would mention so somebody didn't freak out.

I'm in New Mexico bear hunting this week, trying to send a message on my phone and 2 cow elk just came in. About 5 yards from the blind, lol, I thought she was going to come in the ground blind with me. I got it on video too. We have no good service up here, just spotty, so if the pic post shows up, it may take me a few days to get mine on it.

Nothing in the mail yet I think the Rocky Mountain Yack is having issues with the snow in the high pass. First snow today - damnit I need to paint my deck still. :-0

Did you take a pic upon receipt? I like to take a snapshot once I take it out the box.
No sign of mine yet... If it seems as though it has taken longer than expected (about a week), could the sender check the tracking number and see if it got "stuck" at customs? Hopefully it is just on the slower moose... ;-)

Just received them this morning and must I say wow - I just got hammered. BTW it is of course legal to ship to Canada so truthfullly you don't need to send as parts or hobbies otherwise when they do open it and customs sees cigars and not hobby stuff they will be taken.... :cry: Please be aware of that little hint.

I have never had such a hard time trying to get my pics compressed to upload any idea? I am using a 12 meg pic nikon. Even the lower settings my software won't bring it down. Using InfanView software is there anything else to try which is free and has no adverts in it?

I simple way to shrink a photo is open it up in "paint" and shrink if you have to and then save it as a jpeg file. This should shrink the file size by almost 6 times and not altering it.
This has worked great for me for photo compression

MS Paint works and is easy to use. use the pixel setting. 350-400 is usually under 100k. right click on the photo and click open with paint.
