Post by: horrido on 07/18/2015 08:32 AM

You need some OxiClean, a Magic Eraser pad, and some Micro-mesh pads for the stem.  Depending on how much cake is in the bowl, a good reamer set might be required.

Here's an old Alpha bulldog I did:

Mark, are there any shipping constraints on pipes between the US and Canada?  If not, if you'll cover the shipping costs to/from, I'll restore/recondition any briar pipes you want to send me.  Maybe slip me a buck or two along the way.

That offer stands for anyone else as well.  I enjoy doing it.  I don't have any fancy oxyanareobiotical do-flotchy equipment, so if the pipe has had 30 years of Latakia smoked in it, you'll probably still taste it if you pack a bowl of a vanilla/cherry aromatic blend, and vice versa

Interested parties can PM me with any questions.

I've never smoked a pipe, but may have to give it a try.  Very nice offer, Dave.

Fiber, plenty of fiber. Eat Grapenuts and an assortment of fruits and vegetables! Your old pipes will be good as new in no time at all. You're on your own when it comes to polishing your stem. Some of those magazines might be helpful in that respect...or a good porn video or two.

You should try a pipe, Brad.  Pick up a cob or two to start out with.  They're inexpensive, but the Missouri Meerschaum pipes I own smoke damn near as well as any other pipe I own.

Wow nice work on restoration and yes any tobacco product is taxed on the way over I believe includes pipes I think. I would need to check customs rules. I have around 13 pipes of my dads all in various condition mostly the German type with flip lids.

MM Cobs are definitely the best smoking pipes I have. I always go back to them over every other pipe.

Those restored pipes look very nice David. I might have to send you my grandfathers. Been contemplating setting them back out as decoration and possibly using them here and there.

LOL nice one Ken. That was good.
As for cleaning up your pipes there are all sorts of tricks and products you can use to make them look good. Since I'm on my tablet and typing sucks I'll let someone else share.

If you try an aromatic tobacco, my experience tells  me stay away from cherry flavored tobacco.

Cherry does tend to get overpowering.  The thing about pipe tobacco is you can mix to your liking.
