...to a new humidor! Get your minds out of the gutter!! :shy:
I'm starting the search, but thought I'd mine the experience and knowledge of the fantastic Cigar Geeks family. I'm looking to save some space, so the tower route seems the best way to go. I know having shelves vs drawers plays into box vs single storage, and my collection is almost all singles, but that could change down the road (if she says yes again!). I can see stacking some trays on the shelves until then, but wanted some feedback from y'all regarding these two inside storage options. I don't want to break the bank, but I do have some flexibility to go above the pricing of the towers regularly seen on the google interwebs. I've included links to a few that I am considering. Also, is there any supplier I should stay away from, and who are the trusted ones. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all!! :bigthumbs:

Some nice one's in the bunch. I really like the last one, the cabinet and daffodils but I also like the first oak one and that one seem's a bit more practical to me.

Yea, I'm thinking the same way so far.
I like the first one as well, followed closely by the third.
ps lucky you!!
I was warned that the first one (which I originally considered myself) was actually hard to humidify the drawers and First Class rarely has theirs in stock even though they had the best price with shipping. I ended up with the Economy Tower which allows for either slanting the shelves for displaying singles or installing shelves flat for box storage. It has two fixed shelves set flat already.......... Enjoy, whichever way you go! :bigthumbs:
You are one of the lucky ones. I've been wanting a tower for years now but can't seem to ever justify the spending.
You are blessed my friend, hope you find exactly what you are looking for
Right on!.
Brian, I wish I could help you here, but your timing is perfect. I also have been looking to move to a tower or some sort of wineador. Will be following this thread.
my .02 I like the Avallo with the slotted trays for better circulation. I'm sure some other geeks will have suggestions with links to the humidor. Good luck.
My problem is that I would like to have a tower but the best place in my house for temp and humidity control is in the coolidor in the bedroom closet.

Can't wait to see what you purchase! I've got to wait until the little ones are old enough to not be so nosey.
I have the Avallo with little complaint...like any tower to regulate the humidity between top and bottom can be a PITA.

I second that I have seen them up close and personal very nice and quality craftsmanship
Congrats and get it before she changes her mind. I like the third one, the second one has a nice look but having feet would keep me away. If one ever broke it's coming crashing down.

I'm using the Hydra LG with 2 external fans to humidify it. I put the Hydra on the second shelf from the bottom, it seems the humidty stays low even with the fans pointing up. It has 2 drawers and came with 6 trays that I moved around and I added 4 more of the smaller trays for more singles. I think I need to put more open slats in for better circulation but I like it so far.

Lucky you nice work what did you need to give up - a trip to the vinyards?
The last one looks to be the best cabinet with the visible joints in it.The craftmans ship looks to be above the rest, but so is the price.

I work in wood for a hobby and the last one is right up my alley - workmanship looks amazing and joints are well crafted. If you can I would buy it and also the old saying goes you get what you pay for - you go cheap you get crap. Also the wood quality is top notch from what I could tell. :-) go for what you can get Brian.
Hopefully this works. I took some more pics of my tower. I'm not sure you can still get this model, the way it's set up with the 2 drawers...and it sure looks fuller in reality. The close-ups make it look really empty, but I am sitting on only about 450 cigars so plenty of room for more.
The 2 black things are cat litter, I had it in my tupperdor before I got the tower and just stuck it in there hoping it would help stabilize the rh, not sure it's really helping or not. I've got 4 hygrometers placed throughout. Like I said the top levels are lower rh than the bottom, could be due to all the open space.
Let me know if the album doesn't work. http://imgur.com/a/WwPt1
Looks GREAT! For now, I'll have to stiick with my tupperdor, but i'd like to go that route someday!
I have that first one (3000 ct. in oak) and its terrific.
I want one of the winedors. Something about climate control is very appealing to me.
I have a slightly smaller version of the Redford, the maverick I think. It has served me well for several year's now. It did take some adjustment to get the RH correct with the cooling factor causing a little condensation at the base of the cooling wall but after I got it balanced out it has been almost hand's off.

I found this one on Craigslist. The guy is up in Dallas, so it would be a 8 hour round trip. He said he would take $1200 for it. It seems really nice, I'm just afraid to pull the trigger without seeing it first. Any thoughts?

Holy crap that is huge! I really like the way it appears that the humidifier is set up to pump out thru the vent holes in the back. You would need a ton of trays if you have a lot of singles. I also got mine off craigslist, $200, couldn't pass it up. I did have to buy the humidifier separate though.

Yea, its a lot bigger than I need (for now!), and it will take up more space than I prefer. But, it does seem like a very well made humidor. It comes with shelves, but no trays. I'm thinking...and it hurts!

Brian, to me this looks like a modified cabinet. The inside walls looks to be made of the same wood as the exterior (dark wood). I really don't see any type of sure seal around the doors and frame?
Like longhorn says, we can discuss shortly
This is my dream humidor, but the wife said no. I do a little wood working so I've been considering trying to make something similar. I'm sure it will cost just as much but I'm hoping she won't notice if I make it (and therefore buy it) piece by piece.

It does look like that. He said he's owned it for 7 yrs. The more I think about this one, I think less of it. If, and that's a big if, if I drop that amount of coin on a humidor, I'm gonna be darned sure of what I am getting. Scratch this one off the list...and talk to you soon Chuck!

Brian I really like this one. Before I bought my Eurocave. I was thinking of buying this one. 1. its big and 2. you can regulate temp and humiduty
I'm just not sure I really need the temp control, as that has not been an issue for any of my smaller humidors. I could save a lot of money, and go with this set up instead.

The Wineador is not big enough...we all know about not buying a bigger humidor! I'd like to have a temp controlled humi, but the pricing is just too much to justify purchasing. Maintaining RH is not that difficult, and keeping a consistent temp has not been an issue, so I am going the tower route. Put in a price match offer to CheapHumidors, and now I am waiting for their response.

It's nice being a lucky bastich! Thanks brother!
Well, the wait is over, the tower has arrived! I am stoked! Now the wait to get it seasoned. Any helpful hints? I've got the Cigar Oasis Magna running, should I just let it run till we get to 70%? I am aiming for 62-65% once it settles in. I'm pretty patient, but I hope it doesn't take a month to get seasoned! If any of you are looking at one of these, for the price, it is a pretty solid unit, and I am impressed. I'm going out this weekend for some rubber stripping strips that Bruce recommended, and will begin a search for some LED lights to brighten her up. Y'all have been great with the helpful advice, keep it coming please! :bigthumbs:
looks great.
That looks so amazing Brian. Congrats on the new tower
Looking nice!.
Looks great ,your a lucky man :-)
Very nice Brian! If you're very careful and don't knock it around you could put a couple dishes of distilled water in there to help it hurry along.
Very nice. Looks mighty familiar . . . :?:
Very nice looking. Can't wait to see what it looks like with cigars in it. :bigthumbs:
Awesome looking humi Brian! It's got to suck waiting on that baby to season!

That is fantastic! Very nice humidor. Post more pics when you fill it!
Looking good Brian, but patience grasshopper
Looks great. Can't wait to see it filled up. :bigthumbs:
So happy for you here.... and a little jealous as well.
What a great buy. Now that the waiting is over, the fun begins.
I have no experience with big towers but whenever I season a new wooden humidor or when I did my wineador lined with Spanish Cedar, I lightly wipe the trays and SC lining with DW, not to make them wet, just applying some moisture on the cedar. I found it accelerates the seasoning process.
Very nice Brian! :bigthumbs:
Very nice really happy for you! As hard as it is to wait it will be worth it a cabinet that big will take time to stabilize, I ran my humidifier at a high setting & put a couple of small dishes of dw on the shelf & in the drawer of my small cabinet once humidity started stabilizing I slowly brought it down to my target setting, patience with the seasoning will pay off big time. Enjoy & congratulations my friend! Will be waiting to see the end results.
looks great. looking forward to seeing it filled up.
Holy Crap that's nice! Congrats it looks great
Nice where is the sock drawer
Awesome~! :bigthumbs: Can't wait to see that thing with twenty-six boxes of Le Bijou's in it!!!
I see you also got a tray with no shelf as I did with mine.. I just added a few more clips and put it in as a separate tray. Works fine..... :shades:
Very nice Brian!! I have one exactly like it except it's the cherry finish!! You will love it brother!! Congrats!
I finally got a picture of the tower set up and filled. I still need to add some weather stripping, although it is holding steady without it. I'm also going to add some lights sometime soon, and reconfigure the cigars so that they are organized a bit better. I am extremely happy with this tower, and the Cigar Oasis Magna humidifier. It's been a couple of months and it holds a steady temp and rh. Man, I've got the coolest wife around!! :bigthumbs:
That looks awesome man.

Looks fantastic Brian! I have humidor envy for sure.

Well, one can never have enough Le Bijous! The drawer with the MF sticker on it is full of mostly LB's and some MF sticks, and of course, there are others amongst the top shelf!
Very nice Brian! :bigthumbs:
:bigthumbs: Very nice
Oh, I'm not jealous at all. I love my blue plastic cooler...:)

Looks fantastic Brian! I have humidor envy for sure.
Hey, you got a nice one on the way, right?
I like my setup with it's multiple humidors, coolerdors, wineador and tupperdors... but I still am jealous of that tower. What a nice piece that is.
You do have a fantastic spouse there Brian
