Title: Cigar Geeks Secret Santa 2015
Post by: Rebecca Silverwolf on 10/30/2015 03:19 PM
It's that time of year, time to get the Secret Santa rolling again. Here's how it works:

Let me know in this thread if you are interested in participating. You must have achieved Veteran status or higher to be part of this. The cutoff date to get your name in will be November 27th (the day after Thanksgiving), no exceptions will be made to this. You will then be assigned, at random, another person from the list to play Santa for. You will send your recipient a total of six cigars. This will include 5 good quality sticks, which you think your recipient will enjoy. One of these five sticks should be designated as a New Years Eve smoke, typically people have done this with the highest end or most rare stick they send, though this is not required. The sixth cigar you send is the "Lump of Coal" cigar, and should be a smoke that would be worthy of giving to a cigar mooch or annoying relative.

The cigars should be sent in time to arrive before Christmas. Please take into account that mail is typically a little slower at that time of year. Also, please remember this is a SECRET Santa, you aren't supposed to let your recipient know you are their Santa. (Until the gift arrives, anyway.)

To get a better idea what to send to your recipient, take a look at any posted wishlists, as well as past reviews.

If you have any questions, you can post them here or PM me.

Veteran is 100 posts, you can see the actual ranking list by clicking on the Members List under Site Resources on the left sidebar.

Looks like I would be ruled out regardless - unless I read it wrong does it need to be a number of posts within an amount of days or do you have to have been a member for 60 days & had 100 posts?!? If it is the latter then its around the 12 December before I would qualify as a veteran

All those questions would be better answered by Rebecca in my opinion. To me, this is her pass and she'd be best at deciding what's what.

But, generally, the requisites for participating in passes and such are either a required post count or status or a minimum of feedback points. Sometimes it's both. One could also be asked to have an older member vouch for him so on and so forth.

Each pass or PIF or Trade could have different participation requisites, but in the end, the "owner" of the Pass gets to decide.

Just my $0.02

Do I not need to have been a member for 60 days also Stephen?!

You know,,,,, THERE IS a delete button........

I have just learned something, I did not know about (hadn't noticed) the delete button.  I have already started lowering my post count, reverse whoring I think it's called. Should we put up a thread about that

Please make sure your name is on the list if you want to play. (Make sure I didn't miss you if you already told me you want in!) Looks like we are at 41 Santas this year. I will be sending you the name of your recipient on Saturday. Your name must be on my list before then.

Please remember that the gift cigars are supposed to be cigars you feel your recipient would like to receive. Please take a look at any posted wishlists and past reviews to help make good choices. (If you don't have your wishlist public, it might help your Santa out to make it that way, at least for now.)

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Everybody, (especially folks who haven't played before) read Rebecca's advice, if you don't have a Wishlist humidor up, get one.  If you haven't updated it, do it.  Makes the game easier for your Santa, and you never know what some Scrooges around here have holed away that a little Holiday cheer may get them sending.

Everyone should have the name of their recipient now.

Make sure that you have your address correct in your profile, so your gift won't go astray. If you can't see your recipient's address in their profile, please let me know and I will track it down for you.

Again, having a wishlist visible to the public might be quite useful to your Santa.

Let me know if you have any problems or questions.

Just a quick note, before anyone asks.

Six cigars are the requirement. You must send a minimum of five good cigars and one lump of coal.

If you wish to send extra, feel free to do so. I would never stop people from being extra generous at this time of the year. Please do not do anything weird, like splitting some off into a separate "bomb", or anything like that. I don't want to have to try and figure out if someone has not sent the required number of sticks. If you feel extra generous, just throw in the extras.

However, do not feel that you must send anything beyond the six cigars that were described in the original post. Those six are all that is needed.

Turn on your Santa-Tracker __________!  Here's your tracking #: 9405803699300127450382

Oh, you want a hint?  This sleigh is headed east, or is it north?  Both?

Glad to see these starting to head out. There is no particular rush as of yet, but do remember that these should arrive before the 25th of this month. Make sure to leave plenty of time.

I wanted to get mine out by today, but it's been a hectic week and I'll be out all weekend, so I am revising that to Monday. I'm a little nervous about Santa gifts or an order arriving over the weekend and sitting in the cold while I'm gone for a couple of days, so I'm asking my brother to drop by and check the mail on Saturday - just in case.

Just some helpful advise.  There will be some odd or unknown cigars flying around, wouldn't hurt to list your cigars for your recipient.

I worked late at the USPS so the packages keep moving, only to get home to one myself from the legendary Curmudgeon Ken Kelley!  Hey Ken, you knocked it out of the park with this one :respekt: What a Secret Santa this was and I see with that college edumicatun you still can't count  Very much appreciated Ken.  I was tired and ready for a cigar and some of that Monkey Humper scotch so that La Aurora Preferedos maduro is burning as we speak!  Thanks you old fart!

Pic kind of sucks: Feral, T52, Anejo Shark, My Father, Tat 2012, Antano, LFD, to name a few of them.  Very much appreciated!

I think the NYE smoke should be the Tat 2012, then the FFP, then the My Father Lancero,  then the Shark.  The T52 can be the first of 2016.  I'm sure that was Ken's plan, right?

Some of us had logistical challenges and are just now getting around to mailing. We still have a good bit of time before Christmas - especially if we shell out for faster shipping, since we're now getting to the "panic and place an order" part of December.
