Hey guys/gals!
I recently purchased the Princeton Ebony 130 count humidor (currently still seasoning) and I was wondering what you thought would be the best humidification device for it?? Boveda packs? heartfelt beads? cigar oasis excel? I would like to know what you have best results with! I am coming from a small 20 count humidor where I would use boveda packs, I just don't know if I want to fill the new humidor with them because it'll take about 6 packs and that will get expensive fast to keep that up!
Boveda packs, for sure. They are convenient and quick. Cigar Oasis is a great setup, but for a 130 humidor its really not necessary. As to the number of packs you use, 4 packs would probably keep you where you need to be. The more packs you add, the longer they will last though. Plus you can always revive dead packs with distilled water.
Boveda is awesome. I use Boveda in one, HF or cheaphumidor.com beads in another, and an Oasis in another. All work great.
I prefer the Boveda pack's and as mentioned before, they can be recharged so after the initial investment all you need is some distilled water and a suitable container and you can make them good as new again.

I'm a boveda guy as well. Another option not yet mentioned is kitty litter.
I have to agree with bovida for that size humidor.great system and they can be recharged.For a larger unit like a cooler you might what to try a different method.

I like a hybrid system of Water/PG in a humidifier with a boveda pack. This sets up a dynamic equilibrium, keeping the Boveda charged, and the Boveda regulating the humidity.
While I don't use any solutions I do use a combo of DW and Bovedas. They are easily re-charged and I have only bought about 12 over the past 4 years making them quite inexpensive and an efficient method of humidification..... :?:

Thanks everyone for the tips! Looks like I'll be buying some more boveda packs! LOL, and I think I'm going to keep my eye out for those Tupperware's with the dividers to easily recharge them!
My aging humidor holds about 120 sticks, and I use 2 Boveda packs to keep it humidified, so I'd be surprised if you would need more than that. I use the 69% in this one, and she holds a steady 65-68% year 'round. Recharge em, rotate em, and then you can smoke em...the cigars that is! :biggrin: :bigthumbs:
I prefer heartfelt beads but only because I enjoy "recharging" beads more that I do Boveda packs (I still do it though). Both solutions are equally effective. I see no difference between the two and I do have some humidors with only packs, some with only beads, some with both and even a Wineador that runs on DW/PG along with the beads, kinda what Jackal uses.
As long as you stay away from green foam type humidification device you'll be fine but I figure an Oasis is a bit of an overkill for a 130 count humidor. Maybe 6 large Boveda packs is also not necessary for your humidor by the way. I ran a 250 count with only 4 packs for years and I'm in Canada where winters are dry as can be.

I agree with Sébastien , I use Heartfelt beads exclusively and am very happy with them over the last 5 years. With that said, I have heard nothing but good things about Boveda in smaller humidors. I do not think you can go wrong either way
