If you put Kent and I next to each other in the order, we can try to work an in-person handoff in.

I generally put all the addresses into a "trip-maker" to keep the distances down, unless someone is going to be out of town or the like.
This should be fun! Thanks for having me!
My posting of the seed cigars has been derailed for the evening. We put together a new band towards the end of last year and have played a couple gigs that landed us six or eight more gigs in the next two months. We were informed this evening that one of two guitarists and vocalist is moving next week. His wife got a dream retail managerial job up in Montgomery, AL. FMR!
Congratulations to her~! Is he going to retire I hope?
Hey no worries on my part. I understand having to prioritize hobbies!
Okay, I got a dozen sticks to start out with and posted them. Read 'em and weep! I tried to vary the price range a bit and included some old blends as well. Lots of yellow cellos! I think I got all the letters covered. Please make sure your addresses are up to date.
I got the pass order loaded in as circuitous a route as possible. If everyone is okay with the order, I'll box her up and drop her by the PO tomorrow or Monday.
Thanks to everyone for playing. I think this pass may have set a record for the amount of time it took to fill up with participants. It's good to have some old CG friends involved. Even cooler that some folks I don't really know jumped in as well. Again, let me say this should be fun. I'm not gonna argue over dollar values unless it's an egregious foul, nor am I gonna bust anyone's balls if the weather, work schedule, your dog giving birth to a litter of kittens, etc, delays a turn-around by a day or two. Just keep us updated as to what's going on should a delay occur.
Oh, another thing. Anyone who breaks the rules or otherwise pisses me off in this pass is going to have to deal with these guys!
Looking forward to it

I have no "tins" as all of my tobacco is in mason jars for storage but wouldn't mind maybe tossin in a few baggies of tobacco in with the pass for the pipe smoking geeks to trade out.

Okay, the little cob pipe is Dan's (millarddj). I tossed in a couple tins. Bust them open, take a couple bowl's worth of each, bag the opened tins in a little zip-loc bag, and send them on with the pass. There's no charge for the pipe enabling...
And the pipe stuff in this pass will be untracked, so y'all are on the "honor system" with all that.

This is precisely my issue.
Forgive me if this is covered here, but I couldn't find anything specific. If I want to take a pipe and tin of pipe tobacco, do I have to put pipe tobacco back in as well? Or can I replace it with a cigar or two? I would default to the former, but want to double check the mod's feelings on it!
Luis Martinez cigars fly under the radar of most cigar smokers. They are Florida's version of Finck's out of Texas. They make everything from legit hand-rolled cigars to machine-mades. Their Silver and Gold Selection cigars are pretty decent in my opinion, especially when you consider the price. I think they are one of the few bigger factories left in Tampa. If that cigar is toast, toss it.
And if the pipe baccy is overwhelming the box, double bag it.

The cob in the pass was meant for you from the onset. If it ain't there when the pass gets to you, let me know and I'll send you another, because every pipe smoker needs at least one or seventeen cobs! As far as puts and takes on the pipe baccy, do whatever your li'l ol' heart desires. It's all good. I never intended it to be a "tin for tin" thing. So if anyone wants to crack open a tin and grab a bowl-full or two, that's fine. Just seal the opened tin up as best as you can and put it in a ziploc baggie. But if anyone has a cheap pipe-tool and/or pipe cleaners they could toss in for the other players that might like to try, that would be mucho cool.
Never smoked a pipe. What's the draw there? My grandfather used to smoke one, but he passed when I was pretty young so wasn't exposed to it much. Don't know anyone who smokes one now.

I'll call it an extra take and replace with something unless someone down the line has their eye on it, feel free to speak up if so, I wasn't considering it as a take otherwise.
The tins aren't bagged at all right now so I'll go ahead and do that.
The cob pipe is still in the box.

Jeff, we can surely fit you in!
Okay, Jeff Ward (1sgjeffward) is now in the pass. I have instructed Jason (jharrisx5) to hold onto the pass until Jeff lets me know if he wants to be next in line or after Ted, since they are both in Colorado. Once I hear from Jeff, I will update the pass order accordingly.
Make him next....:shades:
Whatever works easiest is more than fine by me!
Jeff, let me know if you want to get together for a local hand off! I'm in the Lakewood area.
Hey gang, just wanted to let you guys know I've been a little out of the loop as the last few weeks have been hectic. That said, I'm all read up. The midget stripper lap dance video will be with me until the grave so thanks for that. I'll have full on alzheimer's, I won't be able to remember the names of my own children, but I'll remember that video. :shootme:
Regarding the pipe, you guys have me wondering about them. I tried my hand at one before I got into cigars but I gave up on it and now I'm starting to think it was because I likely had no clue what I was doing. I would always get mad because (as best I could tell) I would always either pack it too tightly and it wouldn't stay lit, or I'd pack it too loosely and it would burn too hot and fast. If there are other causes I'd be interested in hearing them. Also, do you guys use those little filter insert things or just smoke it without them?

Proper pipe packing is one of those things you have to work at. Different cuts of tobaccos require a different tack and all tobaccos vary a bit in moisture content which only helps complicate matters. As for the filters, I have a couple straight cobs that I use filters in just to keep the moisture from creeping up the stem. My general rule is that if a pipe came with a filter, I try the first bowl with the filter. Most times, the draw is too tight for me and I wind up tossing it. It's all a matter of personal preference.
I've updated the pass order and put Jeff in after Ted, so the pass may now continue. So shall it be written, so shall it be done!
All this talk of pipes got me thinking of the coolest pipe upon which I've ever laid eyes. My dad lives in Hampton, VA where Ft. Monroe is located. The base has a museum because it's been located there since the colonial days. As it happens, this is where Jefferson Davis was imprisoned after his capture, and on display is Jefferson Davis' pipe. I was able to find a photo of it on the interwebs. http://pipesmagazine.com/wp-content/2011-articles/jefferson-davis/jefferson-davis-meerschaum.jpg
If you don't mind making attempt at explaining it, I'd be interested in knowing how to judge the tightness of the pack for a noob, you know until the natural skills and abilities take over.
Ok...I have got the pass and will be digging in the humidor tonight...hope to have it turned around tomorrow.

You bet I made her day, too! She informed me in no uncertain terms that she was in charge of training employees, et cetera, and that I was wrong. I asked her how companies like CI et al were able to ship via USPS. She couldn't give me an answer other than they were breaking the law. I took down her name and went on my not so merry way to the UPS Store. My job gives me access to lots of gubmint email addys, including the Postmaster General, so I fired off a few tersely worded e-missives. The USPS Workmens' Comp liaison at the time was a friend of mine, as was the manager of my local PO. I found out from both that I'd helped to get her demoted (there had been several other unrelated events that contributed as well). A month or two later, she filed a comp claim for "occupational stress". Included in the USPS' "controversion of claim" paperwork was a copy of my email... :shades:

Well this is another fun one on THEIR part!! I was getting on to post to let everyone know I got it FRIDAY and would have it back out again Monday.
Take a look at the BS they put on it claiming it was delivered TUESDAY that's a big NO. When I mail stuff to Windsor that is 21 Miles from me it take just over 4 days usually 5. YES it goes from Ft. Collins the 70 miles to the Main PO in Denver THEN if your lucky it gets sent BACK to the MAIN Post office which is located at yes you guessed it DOWNTOWN FORT COLLINS THEN sent to Windsor so a 161 miles traveled to get it the 21 miles to Windsor.
Here is the BS timeline they have on there:
March 1, 2016 , 5:24 am Arrived at USPS Facility MANHATTAN, KS 66502
But THEN it went tot:
March 1, 2016 , 6:02 am Arrived at Post Office FORT COLLINS, CO 80525
So in 38 Minutes it somehow miracled it's ass the 551 miles to get sorted, loaded and delivered that day :LMAO:
Bottom line got it and will have it back out on Monday

Cool beans. It's all good. Looks like the Colorado USPS folks are taking advantage of the whole legalized pot thing! :shades: Seriously Jeff, my biggest concern was that something had happened with or to you. You've always been good in my book.
Hahaha!
About 2 years ago I had a package marked delivered. After a week of back and forth at my PO, I finally got a call saying the driver found it under her seat. The fact that it was an expensive (to me) coin (which USPS will not insure) and I was getting pretty pissed. Driver delivered to me and apologized profusely. While it had me pretty frustrated, I have to say the people I dealt with were pretty good folk.
Well...at least they don't charge for the extra aging!
Ya you can't even make this stuff up about USPS man it's all right there on the @$%^ tracking schedule that THEY give you! I had sent a couple of pieces of paperwork to my mom down in her Florida House and we kept waiting and waiting and after 9 days we started thinking it was a loss! She called trying to find it and low and behold the problem was it took the letter 6 DAYS to make it that 70 miles from Ft. Collins to Denver :lmao:
OK onto the real business!!
L - Litto Gomez
M - Montecristo
A - La Aroma

B - Bello
L - Larranaga
LBL ( Large Belly Laugh :)
Sorry about the B Dave but was thinking about you! Those are handmade in Little Havana, Miami! AND I needed it for my side show
Two things
1. the Bello has no label so I marked it with a * above it on the bag.
2. it looks like I traded a Por Larranaga Petite Corona for the same thing but trust me you put them side by side with my cab of them and the one I put back was one 5x42 and the one I took was a Por Larranaga Panetela 5x37. WAY to easy to miss unless you smoke em by the 50 cabs like I do
Good God Almighty! I started this pass of as more of a tongue in cheek joke than anything else. Y'all have so taken this to the next level.
:-0
It's because you're the midget loving big homie...
Box is transitioned and on it's way. Sorry about the extra day the wife was dropping it off and waited till today when SHE had stuff she needed at the post office. Such a little think for herselfer

I think ya'll been smoking that wild wood weed in CO and no one gives a shyt about when stuff arrives or departs. I don't think they care when it gets there.
Ya we do have ALL forms of legalized smoke (ISOM's the exception of course!!!!!) and that does have an effect on 2 things:
1. Work performance mainly speed and that whole giving a $&^% factor.
2. A serious increase in the profitability of fast food and a REAL SERIOUS increase in Pizza delivery
Other things that my senile butt forgot
1. Real quick a new box and bigger container are going to have to be considered. Packing mine in there was really starting to look like in the next 1 or 2 peoples puts gonna be OUT of room. My cigar shipping items have dropped to 0 in the time I have been gone or would have done it myself. Sorry to have to leave this as a problem for the next guy.
2. Wasn't sure of a couple of things in the box but figured OK. So, I put in a little corncob pipe I had gotten from the Rocky Mountain Cigar Fest.
Looks like they CLAIM it will land tomorrow so good luck and enjoy the smokes.
Ah, good old USPS Priority Mail 2-Day™ ACTUALLY Three to Five Day™
So the container/box is full? Any suggestions? If someone decides to add another container or upgrade to a larger one that is shipping-cost friendly, let me know. I'd hate to have the guys at the tail-end pick up the tab for shipping a huge box.

I'll assess when it gets here and see if I have something handy to upsize the box without going overboard. It's possible that my P/Ts may also downsize the package a bit (putting cigars, taking pipe stuff, which is a little more irregular/bulky).

Assess the situation and let me know what needs to be done and I'll try to fix it.
Got the pass this afternoon. The box is beat to hell and all torn up on one side. The good news is that I have a like-new replacement box of identical dimensions. As well, all of the pass contents are accounted for and in good shape.
I'll be sending an IM to Dave about P/Ts, since with pipe stuff it may be a bit irregular. I think there is currently room for what I would propose (taking a pipe helps), but there's not a lot of room for growth for sure. I do not have an appropriate replacement container.

My P/Ts have been approved by Dave and updated. Please note that I also took the Missouri Meerschaum pipe and a tin of Drew Estate Central Park Stroll (thanks to someone for the aromatic tobacco!). Box will be on its way to Kent in the morning.
I have replaced the shipping box. The pass container will probably need replacing in the next stop or two.
Pass is back in the mail - should be landing in Wisconsin tomorrow. I've transitioned to Kent, thanks for having me!
Puts and Takes are figured out. If this shows up tomorrow (Tuesday) I will try to get this turned around and back in the mail Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.
P/T's done
Transitioned to Devin
Will go out tomorrow USPS 9405803699300211366742

Hey guys sorry, I was at my home in Indy for a few weeks because my wife gave birth to our first. The guys I room with when I'm staying near base took care of the package and I'm back today. I will try to get it out tomorrow. I was keeping an eye on it and knew I'd get back about the same time the pass arrived which is why I didn't ask to be moved around in the order. Hope that works for everyone.
Anyone have a good lead for boxes of Amazon Basin? Can't find them for sale anywhere so I don't know how to value it. Closest I can find is this pre-release review from halfwheel stating the MSRP is $9.25/per http://halfwheel.com/review-cao-amazon-basin
x2 for the AVO. Also, I assume we are only doing HTF for HTF? I don't know that I've been in the hobby long enough to have anything as obscure as I'm sure the AVO is.

That's fine. I figured it was something like that. How are Mommy and Baby doing?
Oh man, they are doing great! Everyone says having kids will change your life and I always thought that was cliche and corny. I just didn't understand like I thought I did because it is truly a whole new experience that can't be had any other way.
Yeah, kids are great until they begin to talk, then they learn to talk back~! After about 15 years you'll be counting down the days until you can ship them off to college~!

Devin, as Pass Moderator, on behalf of myself and the rest of the Dads in the pass, I want you to take the CAO Amazon Basin, outside of your normal puts/takes, as a "Welcome To Fatherhood" gift from us.
As far as the AVO TAA is concerned, Corona Cigar still shows them available as singles at $15/stick, so I'd use that as a valuation tool on that one.
So has it been written, so shall it be done! Can you dig it? :victory:

The box arrived in good condition today, but required a surgical staff of 4 to open and about 30 minutes of delicate work to get past the near indestructible packing tape~!

Thanks to everyone who participated! Please let me know (or remind me, if it was already posted) who ponied up the 5-finger bags, and the extra container (I needed a new lunch bowl :-) ) Please check behind me and make sure I left feedback for everyone involved. I think this pass made history. I've never heard of a birth of a baby in the middle of a pass, or at least none I've been involved in. I mean cigar passes, not the birth... You know what I mean! ;-)
With the one or two very understandable delays, everyone turned it around fast, played by the rules... well, except the part about the $20 maximum, but who am I to complain. I almost think y'all ganged up on me in some sort of conspiracy with that.
Anyway, give me a day or four to take stock of everything, and I'll drop all the names in a hat, pull a name out and get a prize in the mail!
