Title: Database References
Post by: Jackal on 01/28/2016 11:36 AM
I have begun a project of putting references in the database to help people find less obvious brands.

For example, if you look in the database under Nub, you will see a note Nub (See Oliva/ Studio Tabac)

Hopefully, this will help newer members find cigars that don't list the brand name directly on the band.

If you think of some references that you think should be in the database, please let me know.

I want to have the important and most confusing entries taken care of.  However, I don't want so many references that it bloats the system.  So please send me your suggestions, but don't bombard me with ones that someone with reasonable intelligence could figure out.

Thanks

Great idea!  All of the Don Pepin brands are probably good examples.

That is a great idea. Thanks for all your hard work.

On a similar note, wouldn't a phonetic search engine be a nice addition?

Ditto! You put in a lot of effort, and maintain high standards to keep integrity of the DB in tact.  Many of us senior members have, at one time or another, had a disagreement with you on something that should or should not be in the DB, but you are always open to intellectual discourse and reason, and not too proud or vain to change your ruling if a strong case is presented.  :bigthumbs:

I think that Ted might be upset if Fred is stealing his cigars.    :smoker:

Thanks, Jackal, for all you, and the other moderators too, do around here.  Lately, I tend to drift in and out of the CG world with spurts of activity here and there.  It's amazing how much "site evolution" has taken place in the seven years I've been a member here.
