Cigar Geeks

Rob gave me the approval to run the contest this year, so here we go. It has been a challenge to fill up all the squares, so I came up with an idea that may limit the number of contestants, but assign more squares. Here is what I propose:

First set of squares sold is (10) at one time, and the requirements are:

(1) $15-20 cigar
(2) $10-15 cigar
(3) $5-10 cigar

So, each contestant must purchase the 10 square / 6 cigar package first. After that, you can buy individual squares. Cigar value determines how many squares you get. Here is the value of each cigar:

$15-20 cigar = 4 squares
$10-15 cigar = 2 squares
$5-10 cigar = 1 square

Once all the squares are sold, cigar prizes will be awarded as follows:

1st quarter winner - 20% of total cigars
2nd quarter winner - 20% of total cigars
3rd quarter winner - 20% of total cigars
Final score winner - 40% of total cigars

I am leaving town on Thursday Feb. 2nd. so if y'all wanna do this, ya gotta act fast! If everyone posts what they are committing to in this thread, that will speed things up, and we can get all the cigars together and sent out after the Superbowl. Once we have 100 squares committed to, this thing is closed...first come, first served... so act fast!!

Yeah!! Thanks for picking this up.  This has become my favorite part of the Superbowl.  Being from So. Cal, its the only thing I ever get to root for.  Put me down for 10 squares, will get the 6 pack out ASAP.  Will pick up more squares if other geeks don't jump on.

Alright, we have 60 squares filled, only need 3-4 more geeks. If the last spot is open, I would not mind playing, but would want the rest of you to approve of that before I join in. My wife is going to help me with the technical aspect of getting the Excel spreadsheet set up, and y'all can start picking squares soon. Numbers will be randomly assigned with a deck of cards.

OK, so we have nine geeks playing in this. I will ask that we go in order of signing up for the board for the first 5, then last to first for the last 5 squares. StogieDad will go first, followed by Cfickter etc... Here is the order to start. I am asking for 5 numbers, with each square having a number. The board is numbered horizontally, left to right, beginning with 1-10 on the first row, 11-20 etc...Sorry for no visual board yet, I am working on it. Once we go down the list with everyone giving 5 numbers...different numbers! Then last will go first for the next 5, which would be myself. I hope I am explaining this correctly! After we go down and back on the list, John will pick his 3 numbers, Clami his 1, StogieDad his 4 and ninfiction his 1, then I will take the last square.

Once the board is filled, I will use a shuffled deck of cards to designate the number for each square. My wife will pull the cards. I will use Ace for one, and 2-9, with 10 being used for 0.

So, StogieDad is up for his first five numbers, then Cfickter etc... Michael, post up your five numbers!!

The spreadsheet is locked and requires permission to view...I can't see it anyway, even after logging into google. I would guess there is a setting somewhere but have never built google docs so I'm no help resolving that.

Well, this is a real balloon buster for my numbers!! A couple of my combos have never came up. I've got 2 out of 11 squares that have somewhat of a chance...the rest are a cold shot in hell! Pray for safety's and missed/blocked extra points!  :biggrin:

Oops, I read the squares wrong last night

Alright y'all, first off, sorry for being absent this weekend. I was in Bullhead AZ visiting my family and attending a great Super Bowl party! Unless I got this wrong, I have the four winners as:

Kent
Brian S.
Brian H.
and Clayton as the final score winner.

bstessl gets the bonus 5pk from me for getting the winning team, along with the closest to the final score.

Here is a picture of all the cigars. I have each group separated to ensure that the winners do not receive their own cigars back in the winnings. I will flip a coin on the $10-15 and $15-20 cigars to determine who gets what. Any complaints...tough titties my geeks!!

There was a total of 60 cigars, so that equated to 20% being 12 cigars, and 40% being 24 cigars.

John, Kent and Michael...thank you for the gifts...you did not need to...but it is much appreciated!!

Unless y'all see this differently, or I'm having a human moment, I will get the winning sticks out sometime early next week.

Good Ol' USPS finally came thru and I got my winnings today. only took them a week to reroute my cigars 8 miles to my new address  :angry:
