Title: What's in the mail Part VIII
Post by: gitfiddl on 01/24/2018 04:59 PM
I figured with a new year, a new thread was in order.  I'll kick it off with the $25 La Palina Sampler I picked up from CigarPage:  a fiver each of Red Label toros, Black Label toros, and Classic robustos.

I wasn't planning on ordering another haul since my last "Last big haul of the year", but between Black Friday deals, some family visiting Cuba, and buying gifts for others, I ended up with a pretty nice new "final haul".

Hand delivered box of Partagas Serie D No. 4 (TSM MAR 18)

Fox Cigars box of Oliva Serie V Maduro Especial 2018 Double Robusto, freebies include an Oliva cutter, an Oliva hat, and 5 Oliva cigars (G Maduro, Conn, O, Nub Cameroon, Nub Conn)

JR Cigars box of Herrera Esteli Norteno Belicoso Fino

Small Batch Cigar 4-pack of Padron 1926 80 Years Natural (3 for gifts, 1 for me)

I was looking at CigarMonster, trying to figure out what to spend my $25 gift certificate on.  Several years ago, I was part of a Geek Critique for the Crowned Heads Headley Grange Corona Gorda, which I thought was a great cigar.  Scrolling through the Monster's offerings, I noticed they had a fiver of the Headley Grange Estupendos on sale for $25.98, roughly half price.  No arm-twisting needed!

Received two packages today. First up was a box of E.P. Carrillo La Historia - the EIII 6-7/8x54 size this time.

Then came another box of E. P. Carrillo - 24 sticks of Seleccion Oscuro Especial No. 6.

I couldn't help myself - I opened the box of E.P. Carrillo Seleccion Oscuro so I can try ROTT tonight. Notice on the lower right of the box bottom - E.P. Carrillo date stamps the box. I assume this is the date it was packaged. The box lid fits very tight - I wish my desktop humidor fit this well!

Thanks, it's 2018. I tried one tonight ROTT and wasn't disappointed. I'm looking forward to giving them a little time in the coolerdor. I've been stocking up for the summer months. We travel full-time, so I may not be in one place for a long enough periods in the summer months to take advantage of online deals. In the winter we spend a few months in San Diego and then a few months in Arizona where I can watch for deals and stock up!

My order of the 2019 BLTC Bishop's Blend Corona and the Crowned Heads Four Kicks Mule Kick LE 2019 were waiting for me when I got home from a RoMa Craft event. Was able to snag the last 3 RoMa Craft Aquitaine EMH Sabre Tooth, and got to meet Mike Rosales, so that was cool.

I went for that Black Works event stick sampler from Cigar Fed.  The two on the left are the event only sticks and they look great.  The other 8 were the blind picks.  I've wanted to try those robustos on the right so I'm happy with this roll of the dice...not bad for $75 shipped.

Boy, looks like it falls to me to revive this thread again.  Great sampler buy IMO from Cedar Room.  $69 but a black Friday code brought it down to under $60!  I think they still have some of these left.  I've been really happy with all of my dealings with them.
