A brief recap: Back in November of 2016, my wife was admitted to the hospital with a failing liver and kidneys. She spent almost a week there and underwent all sorts of tests, two blood tranfusions, etc. When she was released, there was talk of transplants, partial removals and all kinds of fun stuff. The doctor she was seeing after she got home basically seemed more interested in just maintaining, rather than curing and healing, and was very unwilling to help with regards to the SSDI claim we were filing.
A few months ago, she changed doctors and the new guy seems to be more on the ball. Several referrals to radiologists and gastroenterologists, very happy to forward things to the attorney. I took her to an appointment this morning. I sat in the waiting room while she was being seen by the liver specialist. After about an hour, she came back out and said "Let's go". We got into the elevator. She started crying right as I asked "So?" I asked what was wrong, what did the doc say, etc. She told me the doc said her liver was doing fine. They're changing her meds some, will keep checking, but there is no real need to worry about the long term. She was crying tears of joy. It turns out they now think the initial problem in 2016 was her Hep C (which we knew about years ago) exacerbated by excessive alcohol consumption after her sister committed suicide in September of 2016.
It looks like I'm stuck with her...
