Title: This Summer pairings
Post by: ricoishere on 07/13/2018 01:17 PM
Now that summer is here, and vacation is fast approaching, I start my summer pairings. This summer I intend to pair between 6-12 spirits with cigars. I can't wait to start cracking open these bottles, and see how cigars pair with each spirit. most of my cigars are med-full, and full so it should be fun. Each spirit will be paired with many cigars, so it'll be fun.

-E.H. Taylor S.B. B.I.B

-Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel

-Four Roses Elliot's Select

-Barrel Bourbon Batch 12

-Michter's 10YO Single Barrel

-Hakushu 12YO

-Redbreast 15yo

-Hennessy Master Blend 1 and 2

Thanks, I was fortunate to have access to great selections, and since i only buy from three stores, the owners look out for me.

Love the Redbreast - an Irish whisky that's actually complex!

I like Irish whiskeys Redbreast 12 is unique.  ASome, not all, are good at 15 and older.

Very nice selection...I do like that Redbreast 15yr. I'm getting down to the end of a bottle, in fact, I may just polish it off tonight just because of your post   Thanks!

A good thread to revive for the summer of 2019.

I find that a Tequila & Fresca goes very well with an ISOM in the summer heat.

I took out an Anejo Shark to smoke tonight after dinner.  Thinking of pairing it with water so I can appreciate the cigar itself.  I have some Diplomatico rum which I love but I think the sweet rum with the Cognac wrapper may clash.  And I have some Glenlivet but I'm thinking that could overpower the smoke....

An Anejo will stand up nicely to a good scotch so long as its not too peaty or briny.

Mostly Scotch - Alexander Murray 18 year old Speyside, Alexander Murray 20 year old Highland or for a kick of sea salt Talisker Storm. When I want something sweeter I go with Eagle Rare bourbon or Blanton's Single Barrel for more of a rye spice.

I think Booker's would go with the Shark. The rum is too sweet, where as the Booker's is spicy, but smooth. It is 114 this year, so cooling it off with an ice cube would do well.

That is a wonderful idea! Too busy here, no leaving early. Yard work awaits me anyway.

I pair with water more than anything else. Bourbon with a PBR chaser on the weekends though.

nice selection you go there! Now that winter is approaching we should be looking for some nice pairings too! And it's not just about the pairing, but about the whole experience. That goes beyond pairing. What it exactly means, I wrote in my latest blog post: https://www.lightemupworld.com/blog/cigar-pairing-dare-to-pair-and-beyond I am just saying: tomato juice! Yea, thats right!

Cheers,
R.
