Title: Sampler Ideas
Post by: Murphy223 on 08/05/2018 12:01 PM
While I am still trying to nail down my favorite go to smokes, I enjoy the process of trying a bunch of different sticks to help me along the way to "refine" my tastes... what I like, what I don't etc... I am looking for some feedback or recommendations for samplers in the $50 - $75 range which will provide a decent selection of quality cigars but also help me re-stock my humidor.

There are countless selections online and I've seen anywhere from 10 for $20 with big brand names to small label smokes.  I'm trying to filter out what's overstock a site is pushing to get rid of vs. a true sampler where I can try a few new sticks without being gouged or taken advantage of.

Any help is appreciated

TIA

I'm in the same place with learning my preferences. Here is a sampler I tried that seems to be pretty good. In fact I just put up a review of one of the sticks from it. I'm sure some of the more seasoned veterans here will gladly give you some good advice/tips.

If you're looking for quality over quantity I suggest Small Batch Cigars. They have several samplers of boutique brands in your price range.

You can use the code "rcigars" for 10% off and all orders ship for free.

Cigarpage.com also has some decent samplers, as does Holts.

This sampler has a variety of tastes and is extrmemly budget friendly. Dont be fooled by the cheap price as 80% of the sticks in the sampler sell on average for $4.00 each, and a few of tem closer to $5 each.  $15 for 10 cigars at Holt's. I usually ad this sampler on to my order when I get free shipping on their other specials.

I've looked into these but have been wary. Please report how it goes and what you monthly selections look like

This was actually the 1st sampler I bought when I re-started this hobby.   Definitely a humidor filler but of the 10 sticks I received, 6 were good, the others were just so-so.... But it looks like they change up the selection every so often.
Thanks

Or ask fellow BOTL here to put a sampler together for you. I've done this many times and am willing to do it many times more!

First COTM Sampler included the following;
La Aroma de Cuba Limited Edition Noblesse Coronation
San Cristobal Elegancia Robusto
Tatuaje Fausto FT153 - Toro
Montecristo Monte Conde
Nat Sherman Metropolitan Maduro

Pretty solid lineup for $30

I'm fairly new to the group and have purchased from Colin once so far and wouldn't hesitate to do so anytime.

Don't forget about Cigar Auctioneer and Cigar bid.  A friend just scored some JDN samplers cheap, figured to be $1.30 a piece, he was happy as a clam

If you haven't tried flatbed yet I would recommend picking up a sampler or box or three there.  Outstanding cigars.  And if you join their mailing list I believe you'll get a 40% off coupon!

Depends what wrappers you like.  Here's my favorites:

Pennsyltucky
Henshaw Street
Black Maduro
Green
Red (in smaller rings only)
Black Natural
Track 7
Billboard san andres

White, blue, and KFC weren't for me.

Others will disagree with me I'm sure, but most agree on the red and green being very good blends.
